Last of Us [PS4]

But I like the cosiness :D A more open-world Uncharted would not be Uncharted. Sure I can take larger, more open levels, but to a certain extent only.

Exactly, Unchartered is all about out-of-this-world rollercoaster game events tied together by a story, so it has to be linear. Hopefully the story is better than UC3 this time.

Would be nice if they added the inventory/upgrade system from LoU to UC4... and please melee actions and throwing objects.

Tomb Raider expanded well on basic Uncharted formula with hub-based exploration, better combat gameplay [seamless cover animations] and much more interesting hunting for hidden objects. Unchrated games aiter made those hidden objects really tough to find or they placed 100000000000 of them everywhere [Golden Abyss].

I would like for U4 to emulate much of what TR brought.

Introducing a crafting and creation system would make sense in UC. Having to make do and modify would add another level to the gameplay that would be quite welcome.

Personally I didn't find TR nearly as captivating as the Uncharted games, which is probably why I still haven't finished it - although part of that is also because I now have a PS4 so haven't felt the need to go back to TR on my PS3... But Uncharted 2 and 3 I finished them in two or three sittings.

they should make it open world like Jak, no one say they can't have open world and still keep the scripted set pieces and story telling. If anything they should make a LOU with open world to explore like dark souls.

No! They should NOT! :nope:

They can create another amazingly successful franchise (just like they did with TLOU) and make a new open world game. Leave Uncharted alone!

I'm not really asking for a true open world UC game, but with some more room to explore would be a nice touch. After all you wanna wander around and get lost in all the beautiful environment they create and take in the full effect. Of course the meat of the game should still be a roller coaster ride:).

In Theory: Could The Last of Us on PS4 run at 1080p60?

Digital Foundry have put up a speculative article on a possible PS4 version of The Last of Us being 60fps.

Some interesting considerations, such as the frequency (30hz or 60hz) of the original mo-cap, which could make a 60fps version look odd, which I'd never thought about. They also talk to a few devs on the issues of converting PS3 games/engines to PS4.

TR managed to hit almost 60 even though they significantly reworked many parts of the game [more detailed Lara, hair, subsurface scattering, foliage movement, lots of added foliage, new shadows, 15x more particles...].

If ND [or Bluepoint] just take the base game and port it to PS4, they will easily get 1080p60. If they add on that better textures and tweaks to effects [shadows, antialising], people will be happy. In TLOU documentary, dev showcased in-game profiling tools and they had support for 60fps there.

Thanks for the YouTube link. Downloading the video now, I've never seen it :)

I'm definitely in two minds about re-buying The Last of Us. Much of the ride for me was the story unfolding. Hmmm.

If it were as artful a remaster as TR turned out to be I would definitely be up for buying a refresh. Having completed it already much of the impact would be negated but the extra fidelity in scenes would have its own draw. I also think that quite a few of current PS4 owners have probably migrated from the X360 and it would be a fresh experience for them.

I'm just thinking of that scene with the jurassic park overtones and the horse riding sections would be amazing.

Not to mention if they hit 60fps, then the tense panicky gameplay will be through the roof  ! For me, the hook was the gameplay, so I can play again no probs, but they should let me select 'survivor' difficulty straight away as I have already played through hard. And , of course, no full price please, atleast for people who have the ps3 version, digital or disc.

TR: DE is already on sale on the PSN so I think we'll be fine price-wise.

the fact they the even show the bag or something might make it seems more real. Business wise its pretty much money in the bank like RE4 wii which has sold over a million copies very quick. I really hope its true but can only pray for a good port instead of some cheap dirty cash grab. Since the 2 U4 directors left, I hope Neil and Bruce take over the project. Most of the studio can work on U4 and a smaller team work port LOU over. Hope its not capped at 30fps...

I suspect the old TLoU team worked on it since the finished the original PS3 version mid last year... using the engine developments from UC4. It's only a bit strange that ND would release two games in 2014. Guess ~1 year for a port is ok, if they didn't have to re-do motion capture, textures, game design etc.

Did 4 U4 directors leave ? I thought the original UC-series writer left and a lead programmer. On the other hand, they hired this lady from Microsoft.

Both creative director and game director left. very big deal, someone need to step in and take the seat. If they don't want it to flop or take risk on putting someone new LOU/U2 directors would be the best choice, but I think it won't really be their game at this point since a lot of the design work and script are probably done. If they just leave the tech team doing working on the port would make sense, since they said they are using the tech they built for ps3 instead of writing one from the ground up again. Just hope the cut scenes can be render in real time or re render or its going to be nasty if the game is 1080p and cut scene is still straight from the PS3 res and compression artifacts all over them.

Isn't the ND PS3 engine being converted to the PS4 and both UC3 and TLoU are based on the same engine? It makes sense that none of this "port" work is throw away since they are making UC4 anyhow.
