Killzone 2 pre-release discussion thread

Not sure we`ve seen this before but its the 1st part of a cutscene from one of the single player levels. We`ve seen the second part of course. Apparently theres some head tracking gimmick using the sixaxis during cutscenes.

Apologies is posting youtube vids is a no-no.

Mod : You can embed YouTube videos as long as they don't contravene board rules like decency or copyright. Just wrap the video code in YT tags...

That looks like it is from KZ1(never played it though).
 
Gaf user Sam Bishop has posted this, im assuming he is press?

"I doubt it's just me, but final review builds have gone out to at least some of the games press. We can't talk about it until February. This pains me, as the game is balls-out awesome."

Is this about the right timescale for review code to go out? a few month before release?
 
It's believable, the only reason it isn't out already is because Sony delayed it so it didn't piss on Resistance 2 parade when it was released.

Not a wise choice considering the lukewarm reception to R2 and Killzone 2's apparent greatness.

Having the best looking console game (in my opinion anyway) on the shelves at xmas would've done sales the World of good.

I wonder how old the preview build was then, because it had a fair amount of framedrops, AI bugs, and placeholder material.
Most big games have review builds sent a couple of weeks prior to the ship date, surely the review build (which is probably going to Playstation-only sites and print mags) isnt the retail build, there's still two months left till release!
 
I wouldn't be surprised is the SP is just about finished, but the are still working on the MP and send out day 1 patch for it. That seems to have become the standard for online MP games.

Insomniac aren't part of Sony, having their support is more important. Anyway, as MGS4 showed a game can do wonders in both sales and moving systems in the off-season.

Last year BD beating HD-DVD saw sales in January almost double what was expected (and be sustained throughout the year, at least until November..), so there is some hope for KZ2.

Personally the type of people KZ2 is targetting (shooter fans who probably already own an X360) seem like gamers who'll buy a system at anytime of the year. As far as I can tell theres great interest generally from both people I know with X360s and from X360 sites on 'the interwebs in general'.

I just hope the game is a success because the beta was fun, the singleplayer looks like amazing fun, and I like to see risk and creativity rewarded when the result is so compelling.

That is not fair :( ... Hopefully there'll be an open mp beta ...

1st review is "rumoured to be 5/5 from American OPM (Official Playstation Magazine).
