Another perspective would be this...

Your dying and your in the ER...doctors are swarming around you and two of them start talking about the situation....

Doctor1) We need to operate....but theres a 1% chance he might die

Doctor2) Those odds aren't good....

Doctor1) Yeah...1%...What can we do to make this work?

Intern) Doesn't that mean that he has a 99% chance of living if we operate?

Doctor1) Don't listen to him...hes an intern

EDIT:LOL I just realized...the only person that states 100% BC is the thread starter!!!11

You people are so quick to rush to sony's defense .

So much so that your glossing over the fact that sony has never had a 100% bc and has never claimed they will have it at launch .

Anyway I'm done with the topic . If sony fans don't want to have a debate where actual facts are brought into the conversation and excuses aren't made to cover up things then its not worth my time to point out the facts and the lack of confirmation that sony will have all 13k titles working out of the box on launch day
Who in this thread has claimed the bc will be 100%? PEACE.

What is there to defend? To date we not arguing that Sony are/are not liars, nor that they have failed to deliver a BC solution as promised. You're speculating they've failed, and we're saying that's not really founded on any tangible evidence. I'm not arguing in Sony's favour, but I am arguing against you're need to have doubts founded on nothing other than contempt for offical statements and historical evidence; a POV seemingly based on 'MS haven't managed out of the box BC for it's titles so Sony won't be able to either'. And now your argument has become one of the pettiest of semantics 'they didn't manage 100% BC with PS1'. Like 15 titles out of thousands didn't work on PS2. If we all accept 100% as an exact figure is unlikely (and Sony haven't claimed 100%, they've claimed 13,000. As long as more than that run :p), and we know PS3 is incorporating hardware to aid emulation in the same way PS2 did to aid PS1 emulation, and Sony attained a very high level of BC with PS1, what tangible reason based on available evidence have you got to disbelieve it'll be managed? Why would a technical diagram for PS3 showing hardware emulation appease you, whereas a statement from the chief architect won't?

what does the "13000 titles available" means to you? this being shown in a screen bigger than my house in a PS3 conference showing Ps3 features?

...its not saying " close to 100% BC" ??.... well then, I guess the RSX CELL BLuetooth Bluray are also "things of our imagination" because they were also revealed 5minutes later in the same big ªss screen.

....what we should be discussing is: will it need Hdd?

Edit: grammar

Here´s what hillarious. Assuming PSOne has 5000 titles, 13 titles are 0.26% of that population. That means that out of the box, you had a 99.74% probability that your game would work on PS2. How jvd turns that into "it´s not 100%, Sony aRE thE LIArS!! PS3 won´t work with HUNDreDS of non-workinG PS2 and PSOne games!! LLZORS!!" is truly, CLEARLY beyond me.

Speaking about PS3: If its not 99% BC at launch day, then it will never be.
Theres no requirement for any live!-esque service, HDD or other Peripherials, no mention of needed updates. Assuming it would be anything else than out-of-the-box is very far fetched, there is absolutely no indication of that.

Further assuming Sony and MS are in the same boat is nonsense, one of them has all implementation details they could ever need of their OWN Chips, one of them can decide what old hardware is necessary to be retained for BC without any fear of IP or other issues - going as far as just pluggin the whole CPU on their nextgen Console (which I think they will do). The other simply has no choice.

jvd's hit the realm of PC-Engine like semantic bashing, apparently for the sole purpose of making trouble. Sometimes jvd has really off weeks and this appears to be one of them.

To me it seems like he gets like this after some bad news about MS or Nintendo. So if something bad is announced about the X360 @ TGS expect more of the same unfortunatly. Lets hope that Nintendo doesn't have anything bad to say in the next month either or it might be WW III.

Jvd doesnt have good weeks. Now back on topic.. I don't believe we will see 100% emulation(or backward compatibility) I do think it isn't to difficult though since the Ps3 is basically a upgraded Ps2.

Guess what?

This thread has lived a painful life, it's time to make it stop. Thread locked.

[Morale of the day]

I hope everybody learned something with this thread... First thing would be that it's useless to discuss with someone that has obviously a closed mind about a certain subject. It's just pointless to keep on repeating things again and again ad nauseam. Say what you have to say, and when you see that clearly the dialogue is impossible, just leave it at that, and keep the discussion with the people who are here for a constructive discussion.

The second thing would be that NO NEVER name calling and/or Troll name calling should be used in a debate in the forum. Never.

Now, the people who name called other peope, can consider this locked thread as a warning. Next time, it would be a locked thread plus a distribution of (free) vacation weeks from the Console Forum. :devilish:
