Heavenly Sword pre E3 hype?

DeanoC,

Your willingness to talk about what has been done and the hudles that lay ahead actually make your project more exciting to me. No PR "It will do everything and more because we only touched 0.1% of the hardware" but a realistic assessment. It is refreshing and exciting at the same time... I can actually see YOUR vision of what the game will be like, and to me that is more meaningful than anything else. I can see how you guys can, with some elbow grease, actually meet your target. Kudos!

It shows me great hope for this title and future titles as well. HS looks like a GREAT first project worthy of Next Gen status and really gives an insight to the power of the machine and the HARD WORK you guys put in.

Thanks for keeping it real and giving us something great to look forward to!

Very nice I might have to pick it up when its finished. :D
But DeanoC shouldn't you be slaving away on it or did they give you a break for working so hard getting it ready for E3? :p
Yep time off for good behavior, I worked every day since Feb doing that damn demo, so I've been given a couple weeks off to chill :)

So of course I'm hanging round the net, talking about it :)

Couple of Weeks ...... WOW I got 2 days ;)

DeanoC, thanks for answering all of these questions. The game looks great so far and your insight is fascinating (*prays for a PS3 linux kit :D*).

One question, you mentioned how the trailer was stitched together in an editing and post-processing package from individual frames rendered by the in-game engine. If you can say, what, if any, post-processing effects were added to the "look" in that editing process that aren't part of the actual game renderer?

Whats it like working on PS3 is it as challenging as the previous harware was? Are the tools good?
I know you dont have the final kits yet

DeanoC,

Heavenly sword looks and seems amazing. It's already on my list of must-purchase PS3 games.

I'm rooting for you and your team to achive 60 FPS.
wishing you the best 8)

Can we expect some more concept art from both Kung Fu Chaos as Heavenly Sword on the new website? It looks like it's not yet fully operational? :)

Thanks for the responses DeanoC. Dev interactions were a fundamental part of fleshing out the PS2 last gen, and it's nice to see some more of you guys are willing to help quench our thirsty minds this gen. :D That and the game looks totally balls, so what more can we say, but "THANKS!" You rock. Start calling the Ferrari dealerships. If you guys keep this buzz going, you're gonna have to hire someone to count the money you're gonna be making. Again, sweet game. PEACE.

 Game developers never make a lot of money! That is, unless they own the company that's developing the game.

If game developers made enough money to buy a Ferrari, i think the world would be filled with game developers, there would be 87 compnies the size of EA and games would be 900 times as many, and the substance of all the games released put together wouldn't be enough to match the substance of SolitaireXP. :devilish: ;)

Hehe, it was a bit tongue-in-cheek. ;) I don't think anyone gets rich like that. Not since the days of a handful of guys putting out a multi-platinum title like the iD guys did back in the day. With teams of tens or even a hundred guys, it's hard to spread those pennies around. But I think this game will put Ninja Theory on the map. At least, I hadn't known of the dev prior to this latest buzz, so I'm quite pleasantly suprised. PEACE.

Agree with you all, it looks amazing.
Congratulations Deano. Great work :D Can't wait to fire off that bazooka into a 2000-soldier-crowd

Depth of Field (DOF) is what you'd simply call focussing, where you have a distance that camera focusses to and everything in front of or behind that gets blurred more relative to the distance from the point of focus.

ie. When you get blurry crowds behind a clear F1 car, in front of blurry grass.

But I think this game will put Ninja Theory on the map.
Ninja Theory was reborn from developer Just Add Monsters after they had entered into the bankruptcy of their partner, Argonaut Games, last year. Just Add Monsters showed their skill and promise with the tightly designed Kung Fu Chaos for Xbox and various prototype work.

I have one question, DeanoC

About HeavenlySword!
Is this game now a TRADEMARK of SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT??
Like Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, KILLZONE and so on...?
(All rights belong to SCEE?)

this game looks cool

hi, i just signed up just to say how awesome this game looks, it reminds me of hk movies based on history where one person can fight 20 people without getting tired. but you have her fighting thousand!! how is she going to cope?

but is it going to be a bit reptitive? kinda like that Sega arcade game? where you walk around bashing people?

i'm in no way 'bashing' the game or watever u call it but i just don't know the style of the game

i read that the combat system is really different which sounds very promising

and can someone plz tell me what 'pwned' means? thanks
