It's a real SMT, it uses hydraulics to activate the clutch. It's not a slushbox.

Yup, downshift like an F1 driver. Upshift like...your friggin grandma. There's some wierd delay in the upshifts. I went with the 5spd instead, but it's gotta be the best sequential tranny in a car under $50k. PEACE.

There's your cost tradoff. Faster upshifting would require more sophisticated electronics to manage a much lighter flywheel. At least, that's how it's playing out in my head. Could be another reason.
