GTA V on PC

@Malo probably you can trick steam to accept unpacked files from the pirated version of GTA V. If the game have manifest files on the steamapp hard disk, then it is easier to do (but still not easy) compared to games without manifest file (it need registry edits).

but i guess its much easier to ask other friend to make steam backup and do restore from that backup.
It was 90 minutes to download the entire thing again. To me it was a minor inconvenience, the raaaaaaging was in jest really.

90 MINUTESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

-____-

and it took me 99+ hours to download BF4 (i think its smaller than GTA V)

The decryption worked without a hitch for me. I didn't upgrade my video drivers just yet, even though I made the requisite post in the announcement box thing on this forum. Performance is solid, although not 60fps, but I'm playing with a 7970 OC at 1440p so I expected somewhere between 30 and 60 anyway. My graphics settings are basically everything on very high, FSAA is on, MSAA and motion blur are off, and I'm using the AMD CSM shadow option.

I've made my way through the first two repo missions, and took the little side mission of towing an abandoned car with the druggie chick across the street from the first safehouse. Other than that, I jacked a somewhat fast car (looks like a Subaru BRZ, sounds like a Nissan 350Z) and did the entire loop of the "island". It's must say that it's nice to have the whole landmass unlocked up front. I came upon a pair of guys having a gunbattle with cops, the guys won so i grabbed the guns dropped by the cops, stole a lifted pickup truck and went offroading for a while.

The graphics are excellent, and as stated earlier, the detail is fantastic. Lots of grass, rocks, foliage, trash and litter, the whole thing looks VERY good. Night time is a treat, the distant lights are great and so are the (partial) reflections in the damp road surfaces and water puddles. Can't wait to put in a few hours and really get o kno

Yeah I've done very little missions so far, I spent the night (way too late into the night) driving around the country side just taking in the sights. I'm so used to games where all the little minor details are static but so much of this game is animated or affected by physics, the amount of people and cars around all performing their own things, it all feels so alive and realistic. It's astounding.

This morning I switched from my desktop 21:9 monitor to streaming 1080p to my HTPC and that worked flawlessly. I had to specify 16:9 aspect ratio instead of Auto for it to fill properly and I have FXAA/MSAA4x/TXAA all on and it's simply gorgeous on the new big TV. I was worried about the social club launcher thing possibly causing an issue but like uPlay it's not a problem.

LOL, I'm not entirely sure what happened to my post :D Chrome went nuts on me somehow, and after a few seconds of banging the keys and mouse, it submitted. And then it crashed!

TXAA is an Nvidia method of doing MSAA. So you specify what level of MSAA you want (2x, 4x etc) then turn on TXAA version of MSAA. FXAA is a post-process AA which helps clean up some of the leftover artefacts.

The result is gorgeous.

Anybody running this on a Geforce 760? I've an iMac with 4Gb 780M (roughly equivalent to a desktop 760) and 3.5Ghz i7 4771 and I'm curious what performance I'll get at 1920x1080 or native 2560x1600.

The deciding factor for a third dip will be what modders do. I'd dearly love a good zombie mod for GTA V

There you go:

With a 4GB GTX 760 you should get above those 30 FPS in 2560*1600 (the 760 they tested is only 2GB), or even more if you just don't turn MSAA on. And at 1080p you're comfortably above 45FPS.

Update 1: Nice to see the 280X and 7970 GHz going toe-to-toe with the GK110 GTX 780 on 1440p. The memory increment to 3GB is showing its advantages.

Also, nVidia has made sure the 970 doesn't bog down due to the 512MB of slow memory, either by neglecting its existence or optimizing its usage somehow.

Update 2: The game at UHD seems to be mostly fillrate-limited. GPUs with similar fillrate get similar performance (GM204 ~= Hawaii, GM200 ~= Crossfired Hawaii) and even Pitcairn with its 32 ROPs almost pokes at a cut-down GK110, the 780, which probably means the performance is very close to a GK104.

I need more VRAM :( *stares at his GTX 680* ... You have failed me ...

Curious how the perf changes with overclock, but I'm still waiting impatiently for the 980Ti. :)

I'm currently playing with overlocking my MSI 970 as I didn't bother before (didn't need to really). One thing I've noticed is that with only 2x MSAA, vsync full and fluctuating 50-60fps the core clock dips up and down which seems to cause visible stutters in the game. I've been playing on 4x MSAA which keeps it at full core clock and no visible stutters.

And why does the game keep telling me to get the iFruit app to train Chops and other things when it doesn't work for the PC version?

Apparently the update for iFruit is coming at some point, should anyway.

I'll probably mess around with the OC on my 7970 tonight after I get home. Default clock (with the "fast" BIOS) is 1050MHz, and it can do 1175 with a bit of voltage bump and a slightly more energetic whir from the fan. If I feel like ignoring the sound of a hair dryer, it can do 1250 with an associated large bump in voltage.

The memory is pretty much stuck at 1525MHz regardless. :(

The benchmark is strange, it runs through a few scenes then the jet fighter/car crash scene and then suddenly prompts if I want to quit or not. Saying yes quits to desktop, saying no ends up with spinning and nothing.

It is the GTA interface asking if I wish to quit once the benchmark finishes, the only options being Yes or No.
