GTA V announced [2011] , [2021-11-11]

It's looking a lot of fun. I do wonder if they've massaged the captures though because that looks smooth. Rock solid 30fps smooth.

This will probably be my last PlayStation 3 purchase. It'll be good to punch out on a high note.

As a vocal GTA IV detractor I have to admit that this actually does look like a lot of fun. Only took 'em like 6 games to fix the awful controls, but better late than never I guess.

Are you guys able to download from Gamersyde? It isn't working for me !

Gamersyde never works for me. I let the video load and then it just ends up crashing on me. Must be my crappy connection.

The Verge article video links to YouTube, where it's hosted at 720p. It's a 94mb download.

Downloading from Gamersyde now. They always have the best quality, closest to playing on your console. Its a 276mb download, so obviously, will give me a much better idea of the graphics !

The YouTube video is from Rockstar's own channel, it's the same video linked from Rockstar's website. How could Gamersyde have a higher quality video? :???:

Well, there's often a press version that is distributed, and Gamersyde then hosts it with a better quality. It's not like any videos are uploaded to Youtube natively. ;)

Cheers, did not know this. Downloading the biggie.. Although I'm sold on the gameplay shown in the 94mb video. And the game looks great :D

i'll wait six month after it released on PS360 to get the PC version :D

For Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.

This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance. For PlayStation®3, the game ships on one disc and will install content as soon as you insert the game. The install is roughly 8GB, and players will be able to play as soon as the install is complete.

I was wondering about the space limitations of the 360 considering from the videos the huge amount of content it seems to have. There is potentially an amazing amount of exploration and content from those videos though as always with their games, the reality is usually quite a bit removed from what is shown. The underwater diving for example. I am going to assume that it's part of a specific mission and you simply can't go buy a diving suit and jump in the ocean anywhere.

I really hope they manage to optimize the engine on PC this time and provide some better quality.

So with PS3's Blu-ray drive having a maximum transfer rate of 9MB/sec, that's a minimum of a 15 minute install. I can live with that. Or longer, if the game is as smooth as has been shown. A huge performance improvement over GTA IV.

A number of gaming websites were given preview sessions in early May and I recall from a podcast that you will be able to dive any time you like, as long as you have the equipment. This isn't an aspect of the game that particularly interests me so I didn't may much attention to the diving side but I do recall talk of treasure so expect some collectables hidden away ready for those willing to explore.

If you do some googling, you can find a lot more info. C&VG, EDGE, IGN certainly all carried preview articles.

Here, the C&VG article covers this, note this links to page 2. There is a lot of info in the multi-page article. Definitely worth a read! :D

Thanks for the info, reading a lot more now. That's amazing what they're trying to achieve. Elder Scrolls submariner exploration is very bland, almost no attention to detail there, looking forward to this aspect.
