GT HD Premium = GT5 Prologue | GT HD Classic = GT:HD at E3

No we don't and can only talk about the info we do have. But I say it's right to kick up a fuss over pricing models like this (if one is fussed). This noise trickles back to PD and they realize they may be shooting themselves in the foot. Wheras if everyone politely just waits and sees, and there's no talk of fire and brimstone for Polyphony for charging me to try cars or new courses, they'll think everyone's happy with the concept.

Hell, yeah I am goint to raise stink and riot :runaway:

Seriously, the way I see it, GT: Premium with its 2 (!) tracks and 30 cars is not but a souped up demo, you have to pay for which as close to unacceptable as it gets. That just ridiculous.
GT:Classic on the other hand is GT4:Reloaded at an unacceptable price. Don't get me wrong for 60 USD, it might be o.k, but the current price scheme is completely bonkers. It's just ridiculously over-price. Period.

What do we need a Blu-ray disc for, if games start to come with just a level or two on the disc, and the rest downloadable to the HDD.
A DVD with a 250GB HDD would have been a better option, in the light of the recent rumours.

GT5 is the only stuff I'm interested in on this disc - and don't kill me - but I would pay for it. And so would lots of others. It's not without precedent, we've already had GT4 Prologue etc. It might suck given that we're used to free demos, but the fact that you'll be able to play two tracks + cars from GT5 this December, when it's not going to be out til 2008, is irresistable to me.

The Classic stuff, I'll probably be able to ignore easily though. As long as it doesn't look too nice.

so we have probably a full price for a two track demo with no online,
PLUS
a very good sample of what sony thinks of FREE ONLINE, since the GT4 port will require you to BUY EVERYTHING online in order to play.
and if you have to buy everything (or everything you like, if you prefer) for an old game, I cant see it getting better for new ones.

buying tuning parts online and that "special 10 dollar car" does not sound good. at all!!
think about this while you create GT5 dear PD.

and to those people that say "I am not interested in GTHD classic 'cause its an old port, I already have my GT4, etc" I say this:
you think you can do with no online GT until sometime 2008? think again.

Highy improbable, actually. It'll cost something, but not the price of a full game. Look to prologue for a potential indicator of price.

Also, is Premium not online? I thought I had heard somewhere that it was. Perhaps not. Certainly I can wait til 08 before I spend anything more than $50 or $60 on GT Online, if anything at all. If I really feel the need to get any of the Classic stuff, and play it online, I doubt I'll feel the need to have every track and car, and I'd be very choosey about which I took. Heck, I'd probably not spend anything near $60 on it myself.

I wish that you'll be correct on this one. my feelings say full price for Classic (online) and Premium (new gfx) together.

premium is not online. it doesnt even have enough offline modes.

now about classic and costs, even if you wanted to have all of it, I really doubt that you can convince yourself to spend all the dough needed to unlock a pretty good portion of what was GT4.
I guess the good cars and the better tracks will be on the upper side of the declared pricing.
so selection is a probable must on this, which in its turn, imo sucks.

From reading a eurogamer.net report and its comments, I'm now gathering that GT:HD Classic also comes with a few tracks and cars pre-installed.

/returns to pre-TGS shutting up

Are you sure it´s only a 60$ game? maybe it´s 99$! OR 200$, or could it just be that reason also play a part in this? Anything below 30$ is more likely, but of course very boring to talk about.

30$ game, buy a LeMan car and the LeMans track, and for 32$ you have Le-Mans 24 hours online and GT5:prologue to play around with.

Or wait for the GT4:Online version for the PS2, i guess it will be just as expensive :)

Is the glass half empty or is the whale half full?

Premium only has arcade mode, with like 3 tracks and 30 cars. Basically, the feature that made GT popular (choices of cars and tracks) is busted.

Now looking at GT Classic, I don't see any reasons (beside greed) for them to do microtransaction on GT Classic. They should have GT4 assets ready. They surely can bundle it all on that Blu-ray instead of microtransaction on each car and track.

For GT Premium, fair enough, they haven' finish. I don't mind buying extra stuff if they sell the cars and tracks for it online.

I guess a lot depends on price and intentions. If the game is sold cheap ($30?) with online HD GT4 complete and a demo of GT5, optional extra content as it becomes available isn't so bad. Then if GT5 releases with al the content, or for only $20 and you buy or win the bits you want, I'm sure no-one would mind. This could be a different pricing structure rather than additional pricing - offering people to decide for themselves how much content they want with a lower introduction price let's people pick they're own expenditure. If the price starts high though, and then extra fees are piled on top, that's bad no matter how you cut it.

I can't see why PD would be want to offer a lower entry price though. It's not as though GT has been a poor seller ;) I doubt many people who would be interested didn't get GT3/4 because of price.

I'm not quite sure what all the debate is about. I can only see it as something like GT5 prologue with an optional GT:classic mode that allows people the option of paying to play with more, which funds PD's development of GT5.

It doesn't matter how cheap GT HD is. Even if it is free, I am still against microtransaction on GT Classic. As I see it, GT Classic, is GT4 in HD with online. It should have stayed a demo and not become a product. However I am willing to take GT Classics as an apology from PD for removing the promised online mode from GT4 and for not having GT5 ready.

Now as of Famitsu, GT Classic will come with minimal cars and tracks and you are expected to buy the rest online. Heck even if GT Classic comes with the full content of GT4 and the online stuff is extra tracks and cars not found in GT4, I am still against buying stuff for GT Classic.

However, I am willing to fork out some cash for extra GT Premium content. But if they went ahead with the selling of content for GT Classic, I am through with them.

They can fund the development of GT5 by selling GT Premium content. They shouldn't even be working on GT Classic in the first place.

You're right there. I should have checked the OP as I ws thinking the new content was fo rthe GT5 thing, not the GT4HD. The 'Premium' and 'Classic' names are stupid.

I dont like breaking bad news, but if you are to mock me, then better have a look at this:
http://play.com/Games/PlayStation3/RNR/3-/1021999/Gran_Turismo_HD/Product.html
our price: EUR 79.99 Delivered
availability: Due for release on 07/03/2007

furthermore, I just could not find a listing for GT4: online for PS2.
if you can, please enlighten me.

so, if GT5 ships sometime 2008, my guess is that GT fans will have their fun for about a month with the partially new engine (but hollow game) of Premium,
then get to grips with GT:HD classic online for the many months until GT5 ships.
If you dont think I am correct on this, please elaborate.

also have a look at this:
The company has made it clear that it sees downloadable content as a serious revenue stream in the next generation, however, devoting a section of its E3 press conference to demonstrations of in-game interfaces for buying playable content.

I wouldn't exactly call a price filler/guess by some website any indication of the actual price it will be.

they could aready have all the cars and tracks on the disc for classic atleast. you'd download automated unlock codes instead. it gives them control of how the community grows. and saves hard disc space. when you buy the disc you do not buy the right to the data you buy the right to play the game as per it's rules.
