If they're 3D, they could be truly awesome, but that depends on how they're shaded. If they're photo-textured, they'll only look good in that light. Add some alternative weather of time of day (something GT4 hasn't had) and they'll look whack. But if they're fully 3D, with a rock+snow texture and lighting creating all the depth and shadows, that'd be fantastic. My guess is the former, and they're geometry with photos slapped on them that capture the lighting. I'd love to be proven wrong though!Someone suggested that the mountains were 2D ... well, after looking at it again and again, I'm now certain that's not true! They're fully 3D ... (well, no doubt they do have *some* textures. )
I believe mov and wmv are, and mp4 are smaller intended for vPods. But I've never downloaded one.OT: Gametrailers.com gives you three filetype options (mov/wmv/mp4), are all three of same resolution?
GT HD will include two main modes of play, Sony revealed earlier this week. Classic mode is basically Gran Turismo 4 running in 1080p along with a few other visual enhancements. The focus of this mode is on online play. Players race one-another online and purchase cars and tracks for a few dollars each. This mode won't include any courses and tracks from the start.

GameSpot editor Brian Ekberg confirms that GT: HD classic will come with all the cars and tracks from GT4, apparently you are going to be able to purchase *EXTRA* cars and tracks sometime early 07. PD has already begun work on these packs.
Yamauchi also said that regular AI updates will be supported along the way. Two artificial updates are already in the works for 2007 after the game is released.
This will interesting how it'll turn out. Who to believe?
. . . Wow! If trueJapan's Impress Watch games site reports that, in comments made to the Japanese press, series producer Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that Sony plans to make GT HD available for the cost of the game disk and instruction manual. This suggests a retail price point of just a few dollars for the first PS3 Gran Turismo game.
Hmmmmm, really, what to believe? This mode won't include any courses and tracks from the start.
Another new report at IGN!

. . . Wow! If true
Hmmmmm, really, what to believe?
O.k. if in doubt always trust the native speakers. I've just read the GameWatch article and indeed, GT Classic comes completely without content, i.e. barenaked. Everything needs to be bought online. New playmodes will enable via update. There'll be a gamer lobby. It's possible for user to create "regulations" and to hold race events. The downloadable content includes everything from GT3 and GT4.
GT Premium comes with 30 cars and 2 new courses. Additional cars (50-100 Yen) and courses (200-500) need to be downloaded. Maximum 30 cars and 2 courses will be additionally available when the game goes on sale.
I'll trust the producer over your native speaker, and he's said that pricing is not yet known.
That info is from an interview with Yamauchi himself
Well then he contradicts himself.
Famitsu as well reports that Classic comes without contents and everything has to be downloaded. The price and the form hasn't not been finalized, according to them.

You bolded the wrong part - I was stressing the part where the price and form hasn't been finalized, except that Kaz indicated that the price of the game would be little more than the price of the disk and booklet (I think - I'm starting to doubt everything at this point, including my memory ). Although I'm apparently not the only one who saw the comment where GT:HD Classic would include all GT4 assets by default, I already retracted that comment earlier in this thread after seeing more interviews.
