It's got 3D grass!!!

Nice video, is the Ferrari model (the one before game footage, the one that's with the white background) realtime? I Thought I saw a jaggie there!

i believe it is - it's using that 'trademark' half-assed reflection map as seen in the supposedly in-engine Premium 'studio' screenshots i've seen so far.

HOLY SH*T!!

"Ferrari Officially Licensed Product"....makes me positively giddy. I can't stop beaming from ear to ear.

That video blows away the lukewarm impression I got from the initial screens. I understand now why the BBC commented that the car was "floating", the lighting isn't in yet.

Imagine the possibilities given the talent Polyphony is packing. 2008 can’t come fast enough!

How can you tell the lighting isn't in yet?

I'm just trying to learn how to look for things like "when the lighting is in the game". Wasn't the lighting the same in GT4,just like this video? And is that the problem at hand?

What other game this next-gen has the lighting that you are asking for?

FWIW i don't think the lighting is not in - the lighting as we see it now is at least at GT4 levels (bar some individual not so great reflection maps here and there - i still can't figure out what the heck gets reflected onto the cars in that studio). of course, it may or may not get improved by the title's launch. what definitely is not there, though, is any particle effects - dust, smoke, fog - or post effects like haze. and i think that's the main reason that makes the ferrari sit a bit pasted over at a couple of scenes from the video - but overall it sits pretty tight on that road, IMHO.

I’m not a technical person, you should probably ask these questions to someone else more qualified to answer them. It’s just seems readily apparent to me that the GTHD Premium video does not have advanced environmental lighting implemented yet (lack of basic shadowing is glaringly obvious). GT4 doesn’t have this problem, in fact GT4 manages, in photomode, to look uncannily “realâ€￾ with the way Polyphony implemented their lighting techniques (all pre-baked IIRC).

GT4 never had the “floatingâ€￾ issue compared to pretty much every other sim that appeared this generation.

MotorStorm is a good example of the type of environmental lighting/post fx that GTHD Premium is currently missing.

I think the lighting is in, I just dont think the lighting is finished, I hope. Like I said earlier theres a part where the driver goes into the tunnel and theres no shadow on the car at all. Hopefully polyphony can fix that before december.

Here's an in-car shot of the Ferrari, seemingly confirming the cockpit view for GT:HD. Apparently, some of the Ferrari information and video was released during the Paris Car Show.

There are also a few new hi-res images on the official sites. I'm not sure where, but you can get them also through www.gtplanet.net (just go to the front page and see the link there).

The video I posted earlier by the way shows very clearly that the mountains are 3D.

Although I am not satisfied with the game's overall looks so far....

THIS PIC JUST MADE ME HAVE AN ORGASM

presentation-wise, sony is still the undisputable king!
microsoft should signup for some classes at sony's teaching class.
just remove that bitmap mountain though, that you can never-ever drive to, and try to have that orgasm again.

That road is base on real location, so removing that mountain isn't an option. Beside that mountain isn't a photo on a plane, its 3D. It's just at the moment, the game had really bad lighting, which makes everything seems flat and car looks floaty. That's what bad lighting can do.

It was the interior of the Ferrari that made me have an orgasm

oh I see. well, pgr3 has ferraris with interiors. tdu also. lots of them.
but this is the difference between the two franchises.
one is being marketed by the elite, while the other, even if better, is lurking in the shadows afraid and ashamed.

sony released this screens in paris auto show? a perfect ten from me on that.
did they mention that ferrari had called them to congratulate them on the great job they did modelling that 599? another perfect ten from me.

what does microsoft do? nothing.
forza2 right now is being played in the exhibition@spain, like it was played before @TGS,
it has real time reflections, great damage, pretty rich environments for tsukuba, smoke, and I dont know what else,
because the only place I saw this running is on a stupid youtube compressed video of some clumsy people filming other clumpsy people playing.
microsoft is so stupid sometimes. complete stupid-aton.

The cars look amazing and so does the interior. Just everything else (except the mountain) looks like utter garbage :devilish:

the cars look a lot better, did they decide to not use the ps2 version cars(i haven't been keeping up)

the mountian detail, while not 2d, is still mostly made up of a great texturing job

but the illusion falls apart in this pic

I still think this game should have not been made, and just focus on the next real GT game

your link does not work. if you are linking to the original 1080p size, try using this one instead:
