Gates on Motion Enabled game pads

Double clicking is a particularlly a difficult motion to do while keeping your hand perfectly still. But as long as the target your trying to click is large enough it should not be a big problem.

Doesn't that one have the button that enables/diables the motion sensing? The one I've used has one. It's easy when you can release the button and then it won't move. Not very fast though, but a great remote for HTPC based entertainment system.

Might as well give my 0,02€ on the controllers while I'm at it. I think that motion sensing will give us new and fun experiences, but mostly on the Wii. The problem with PS3's controller IMO is the shape. It feels and looks like a traditional dual shock (without the shock), but you have to wave it around. Granted it'll make games play differently, but will it improve immersion? I mean the Wiimote can be the handle of a gun or a sword, and it'll feel like you are actually holding (at least something resembling) a sword or a gun or a shield or whatever. With the PS3 it will feel like you are holding and waving a regular gamepad. I can't help but feel a little skeptic. Maybe hands on experiences will sway me. Problem no 2 is rumble. I really like to get physical feedback from the game. Controllers without rumble feel dead to me and make the game feel more distant. If you don't like rumble, you can turn it off, so it benefits no one that they left it out. Hopefully there will be 3rd party controllers with rumble for the PS3.

I wouldn't be suprised if we'll see motion control sensory incorporated in a new controller for the xbox 360 soon. I don't think they will want to be the only ones without it in the long run. They downplay it now, of course, as they can't supply it at the moment and don't want people to wait for PS3/wii instead of buying a xbox 360 now.

I see an opening for a deal between Immersion/MS and Sony regarding motion sensing and rumble technology. Sony has announced there won't be any rumble in the new PS3 controller due to interference with the motion sensor. I don't believe this for a second since if it was the truth Sony could easily have made it so that motion sensor and rumble couldn't have been used at the same time.

I believe Sony wants to put pressure on Immersion by annoincing the removal of rumble altogether. Immersion may lose license fees for 100+ million PS3 controllers. I don't think Immersion would want lose out on that. The deal could be that Immersion/MS could use the motion sensing tech from the PS3 controller in exchange for letting Sony use the rumble tech without licensing fees and dropping or reducing the lawsuit settlement regarding the dual shock 2 for PS2.

Who cares what Gates said about Motion Enabled game pads! His console doesn't have one, so of course he's gonna rubbish it. You can come up with as many excuses as you'd like that MS have done this and that before, but bottom line is - they don't have it, so rubbish it. Who would've expected anything less? C'mon, get real people. I'm sure y'all noticed that he dropped XB Live in there in the same breath? It's all about downplaying the competition, and promoting your strengths.

And to all those who say that the PS3 motion sensory is a "gimick", get over it already! It's water under the bridge, life goes on. You don't have to come into every thread that discusses the DS3 controller, and proclaim that "teh PS3 gyro is teh gimmiky!!1!1! And how many of you have actually tried out the DS3 on a PS3 game? Huh...anyone? If you have, then feel free to provide YOUR feedback on the controller, and how it feels. If not, then you don't have a clue what you're talking about!
