Formula 1 - 2013 Season

Regarding Webber's punishment- it is really hard to find a more idiotic decision. Those people think with their asses, excuse me
What Bludd said + other cars actually had to take evasive action not to hit Webber or Alonso who stopped right in the middle of a corner, right in the middle of track (TBH Alonso should have gotten a reprimand for that)
Webbers 3rd reprimand came for running to track without permission

This is what we get with conservative tyres.

And for having a shitty city circuit with concrete walls, where drivers would rather sit behind a slower car for six laps, waiting for the slower car to pit, than attempt overtaking, risking putting his own car in the walls.

Cheers

Alonso did get a reprimand didn't he?

Both got a reprimand. Webbers grid penalty was because this is the 3rd in-season reprimand which now yields a 10 place penalty.

SAFETY ISSUES KEY TO MATTER

Webber and Alonso were punished because of the dangerous manner of their actions.

Although the race had finished, article 30.9 of F1's sporting regulations is still in force, which means drivers cannot run on to the track without permission from marshals.

Sources have revealed that not only did Webber not have permission from the marshals to enter the track at Turn 7, but he was in fact explicitly told by track officials not to do so.

CCTV footage of the incident shows Webber hailing Alonso as he runs towards the track, ignoring the marshals, before he sprints around to the left hand side of the Ferrari.

At that moment, Nico Rosberg has to swerve to the left of Webber and Alonso, before just a few seconds later Lewis Hamilton has to take to the kerbs on the outside.

Alonso's reprimand was for stopping in a dangerous place, which was in the middle of Turn 7 where he could not be seen by cars entering the corner.

Hamilton said on Sunday night that he was "really shocked" to find a stationary car on the track at that point, and that Webber had been lucky not to get run over.

Dangers in motor racing remain even when the chequered flag is out. At this year's Canadian Grand Prix, a marshal was killed when he was run over by a crane as he assisted in the retrieval of a car.

And on Sunday afternoon in Singapore, GP2 driver Fabio Leimer crashed into Alexander Rossi on the slow-down lap.

Yeah after having seen this video, it's hard to blame the penalty.

As for the race I thought it was fairly entertaining even if the winner was never in doubt. There still were quite a bit of overtaking and battles on the track. Great race from the podium guys. Alonso just seems to always find a way to be there, fantastic start again and smart strategy and driving after that. I would have never believed Kimi would end up there also :)

The reprimands are fair cop, but Webber shouldn't get that grid penalty. Grosjean, Maldonado and Petrov created that rule because they did get heaps of reprimands.

They should just fine him instead of reprimand. What's the rule about which one deserve a reprimand and which one a fine, etc?

New rules are not allowing to fine a driver, only team. Stewards can only reprimand or penalise driver under new regulations.

Lotus is getting bitter for Kimi leaving (translated from finnish):
8th of September:
Lotus will first clear it's financial situation, after that negotiations with Kimi
Due Lotuses financial troubles Räikkönen is at the moment paying his trips to F1 venues from his own pocket

- I'm finishing negotiations with all the collaborators at the moment for the teams and companys future. As soon as I've done that, I'll sit down with Kimi, said Boullier
- It's not just about money. He wants some proof that the team will take a step forward. It's also about our situation with Renault, which we're still negotiating about, Boullier said.

25th of September:
Lotus boss: I thought that Kimi didn't return for money
- I thought that Kimi didn't return to Formula 1 due money, but now it's clear that the truth is the opposite, said Lopez

..
Hmm, yes, obviously it's about "returning for money" when you're leaving a team where you don't get paid and pay your own trips to races

Sounds like BS to me. So they can run a team, employ hundreds of people working around the clock, design and build new parts, fly people and cargo all over the world but they don't have a couple of thousand dollars to pay for Kimi's airplane tickets? So how is the rest of the team getting to races? Paying for themselves as well? People back at base are working for free? New parts are made from recycled old parts?

Well, they have admitted previously already that they're behind on other payments too, not just Kimi's salary.

This is interesting, there's increasing amounts of rumors and claims made that Red Bull is using illegal traction control system. Or found a loophole to make some form of it legal.
One theory is that KERS is somehow involved in it.

One video showing some suspicious skid marks:

Watch the skid marks left by Webber as he accelerates, those gaps in them simply aren't normal at all

This is curious, Red Bull's Horner was asked does he think Ferrari with Räikkönen & Alonso would have the best pair of drivers next season, his answer was "I've heard that Alonso might not be there anymore for next season"

Probably just trying to stir things up... really, where is he gonna go? The only way up is RBR. Lotus doesn't have any money, and with no money you can't build a good car. Mclaren is going into a year of lets see whatever works best to make a good start with Honda and they probably won't have an optimal package until 2016 because of that. Mercedes? Two problems. 1. Hamilton 2. A car that is fast but still chews up it's tires and more often than not goes backwards in a race.
