Formula 1 - 2013 Season

I think Hamilton would have won either way, but it certainly helped Kimi.

My disdain for Vettel as a person grew when Kimi shut the door on him on the 3rd or 4th last lap, and Vettel immediately whined about it to the pit. He may be a competent F1 driver but as a human being he is thoroughly unimpressive, IMO.

...

Cheers

I have a strong suspicion that when Rocky said they would talk to Charlie about it he was lying. Funny stuff.

Shocking that they called multi fail 22 again and webber actually did as he was told. Sky had no idea what the message was to both drivers. Short memories lol.

Good drive from Hamilton though and game on un the championship it seems. The new tyres seem to negate most of the mercs weakness. So they have q very fast car that can go almost as long on the tyres as the other teams. Interesting times ahead.

There was no mention of "multi" that I heard, and the codes for that were "Multi 21" and "Multi 12" anyway.

It sounds like there was genuinely a problem on both cars (with someone reporting vettel was told: "We need to fail 23 again, then fail 22. Fail 22 OK but we need to Fail 23 again to reset."), with the instructions being to reset part of the system from the steering wheel. There are suggestions that they used the code "fail 22" a lot in their first year of running KERS...

So all the race they said problem with kers then in the last laps reverted to code? Not likely in my opinion. More likely they added a number to their code. Or fail 22 means marks charge has ended now no threat from behind.

"There is a problem with KERS" means "there is a problem with KERS".

"Fail 22 Fail" means "do something specific on your steering wheel, we might be able to fix this by resetting something"

I think it's clear it's a coded measage but there's no point polluting the thread further with it. Agree ti disagree.

Silly Season is the best time of the Season for sure.

At this rate there's going to be 4 world champions driving Ferraris and 3 driving Red Bulls if we go by the rumours

Since there's no real news, fun fact from Kimi's 1st season in F1 - despite finishing last in Monaco due issues with the car, he drove 6th fastest lap of the race with traction control (which was still legal at the time) disabled in a damn Sauber

Mercedes recorded the audio on an engine dyno meant to simulate the 2014 car running around the Monza circuit in Italy using the automaker’s motorsport test lab in Brixworth, England

I have more fun picking holes in your Kimi love-fest Kaotik!

Only 10 cars finished the race, and that "damned Sauber" was 4th in the championship at the end! Of those 10 finishers only both Ferrari's and DC's McLaren were faster cars.

So I reckon that Kimi ended up with the 6th fastest lap in the 4th fastest car. :devilish:

For the first few seconds I was like "WTF" but after that it started to sound pretty ok. I think I don't mind it at all.

Not enough (any really) turbo whoosh or waste gate noise for me, pretty much the reason I love turbo cars.

Bit whiny but that is likely because it's running on a test bed in a controlled environment, in a real car, with other cars screaming about I don't think there will be any complaints about the noise. (other than from me of course for the aforementioned lack of turbo noise)

There is a chance Renault or Ferrari Power unit will have more noisy turbo :D

BTW I would love one of these new 1.6l V6 in my Bravo! 224BHP is fine and fun but 750BHP is more (scary) fun! :devilish:

But without traction control, which is quite handy at race like Monaco.
And if your car is 4th fastest in the championship it means it's only 7th and 8th fastest cars, if you go by the numbers ;)

You know the first thing any skilled driver does if they have the option is turn off traction control

Not in F1 they didn't. Nothing prevented them from disabling it, but it was far too beneficial for every single driver out there. In case of Kimi it was disabled because of a problem that occured with the system mid-race

Awful, just plain awful.
I can only hope it sounds better out on the track.

The video would really need the current V8 engine "side-by-side" on the same simulator lap to give any estimations on how it'll actually sound. It's been seen over and over how the videos never do justice to the sounds, even when comparing to TV broadcasts and not the real thing
