Formula 1 - 2009 Season

Other damning evidence for you to pointlessly try and defend.

Alonso no. 5 aka number 1
Fisi no. 6 aka number 2
Remember Jarno Trulli? He was in car number 7 in 2004 and Alonso was in car number 8. Trulli was fired. Skip to 2005, who is the new boy in the team? It is only natural that Fisi drives car number 6.

Say it, the R25 and the R26 were not competitive cars and Alonso won all those races just because he was number 1 at Renault and Briatore convinced every team to let Alonso win.

Not too surprising, considering he was their test driver anyway, and has semi-recent experience aswell
No, it is not surprising, but it nevertheless good. Tonio is one of the wasted talents of F1, he was pushed out of Red Bull because of politics (they favoured Klien who is from Austria) and he haven't been able to test because of the testing restrictions in F1 this year.

He's fast, he's got charisma and if Force India keeps their momentum, he can do great I think.

Well Ferrari have nothing to lose and it may make Kimi get a bit more keen. They can't win the championship now so a couple more wins would add to the tally and not write the season off totally.

Given that Fisi is a better bet than what they had.

I think another reason is the GP of Italy. Ferrari wants to put on a nice show at their home Grand Prix.

No. Front looks like a F430, side like a gallardo and overall it seems to be something that Noble could have build.

Now compare that to the new Ferrari 458 Italia and its obvious where anybody's 300k should go to.

Actually, I would rather have the new Mercedes SLS than that new mclaren.

Didn't realise I was asking a question.

It's nice, the side loks nothing like a Gallardo, front looks more like a Koenisegg than a 430.

I would expect the new McLaren will run rings around the Ferrari although the Ferrari does look very nice.

I do like the looks. Actually we were initially supposed to develop it just as we did with SLR, but they went with someone else (another UK-based manufacturer) in the end. Oh well, thanks to that we had the capacity to do the SLS, so it's a good thing from my POV.

I like it too. It looks very no-nonsense and purpose built. It's clearly a sportscar with racing pedigree.

Cheers

To be honest, I don't mind its looks, but side by side with the epic F1, it just doesn't compare favourably IMO. It's just a bit ordinary...

But, nothing compares to the F1. :)

The F1 was a supercar with a very supercar pricetag. The MP4-12C is going to compete, in volume, against a whole host of sportscars. I can see this dominate GT2 at Le Mans in the future.

Cheers

You're right, perhaps the Mp4-12C isn't exactly supposed to be what the F1 was... but there is hope and wishful thinking....

I think I am most impressed with the eco claims. If they really do produce less emission per HP than any other car and still produce something that goes like stink they'll be onto a winner.

Don't forget this is just the first car they are building, maybe there will be a true "hypercar" successor to the F1 in the next few years.

And that would be based on? Well not that it really matters, the people who can afford these cars probably wont take them to the track anyway and if they do they probably arnt the best drivers so whatever they drive its pretty moot. I suppose anyone with money and skills wouldnt choose either of the 2 as the car to really take out on the track.

No its build to make money. They plan of selling 4000 of them every year. Maybe that is why it looks so bland. Maybe they thought that way they could attract more customers than with a ''extreme'' looking car. Ofcourse they are in for a fail because the 458 is going to sell like hotcakes because it looks like pornography while the mclaren looks like your grandpa.

They are planning to make a new hypercar and also a model that is going to compete with Porsche. OTOH Gordon murray is also going to work on a new hypercar. Ofcourse Ferrari is working on their new hypercar and I read Porsche is also looking into doing a new hypercar. Pagani is coming with the new Zonda next year so with a bit of luck were are in for some really nice cars the next couple of years.

I really do not understand what the point of a enviromental friendly supercar is... Not only that but really, do you think there is anyone that will buy a supercar because its soooo nice for the enviroment? Fact is that its still going to do 1l 3km on a track if you are lucky so its not like you are saving anything. Your just destroying a little slower

Call me weird, but I think the Mclaren looks as good as the 458, or better.

Mp4-12c vs 458

Zondas costs more than double the projected price for the Mclaren, - and without any racing pedigree whatsoever. Zonda is and will continue to be a boutique item for rich twats (footballers, rock stars etc)

Cheers

Zondas are building like two dozens of cars a year and they're completely handmade. Not even remotely comparable in any regard, Zonda is a true boutique shop maybe comparable to Bugatti.

McLaren never built a car nor will they now, as said it's being developed elsewhere for them as usual. They'll just do the final assembly, coordination, testing etc.
