Now that I've experienced it for myself on my TV...
It's a thick torrent of large particles which have an annoying "hard" appearance, obviously only exist in a small bubble around the car.
It can't be just a texture. You can clearly see the water collecting at the bottom of the windscreen and reacting to the car's inertia when turning, slowing down and accelerating. Surely some of the experts can explain how they can do that?so what's the technique used for the flowing rain on the windshield ? Is it just an animated texture ?
It seems to be using a particle-based simulation.so what's the technique used for the flowing rain on the windshield ? Is it just an animated texture ?
"Weather simulation" is more general than what I'm talking about; overall the effects of weather in DC are utterly insane. My qualm is with the visualization of airborne particles. I brought up the example of New Alexandria in Halo Reach as probably my favorite from what I've played. But if you claim that it is not so good, it would be great if you present us with actual examples of realtime weather simulation that is better than what Evolution Studios brought us.

Holy shit...I am currently not in the mod for some driving action...but those pics really push me towards booting the game up! Does it really look like that in game?!? (was quite disappointed by the rain drops in GT).
what happens in multiplayer then? For some reason this made me think you'd see a separate bubble around each car in multiplayer, but then I just realized that they would only put one just over your own car.But that is one damn big bubble
With their attention to detail, jaws will drop one more time when they release the replay mode.
