DriveClub by Evolution Studios [PS4]

Graphics look good, certainly better than they were a few months back, but the gameplay doesn't seem appealing at all to me...

Is it possible that this will play like PGR (minus the Kudo system of course)?
Because I will upgrade my PS+ copy in that case to the full version :D

Holy shit can't believe this level of detail would be rendered in game, the environmental detail is mind blowing.
 
I was surprised in some screens and videos also, the trees when they were up close were pretty highly detailed and consistently so as well. I think it's just going to get better as the generation goes forward, environments seem to be getting a real big improvement this gen...
 
That's why I was a little surprised when PD alleged rejected their request to partner (and use) Gran Turismo brand. Wished they had worked together even if this is an arcady game.

Do you have any source for this? What happened?
 
I did another quick search. Could only find forum posts about PD rejecting DC's (or Sony's) request to use the GT name. So it's not official or validated news by any means.

Hopefully the Sony studios are still sharing/exchanging tech tips and implementation at least.
 
Evolution should ask PD about the speculars on the cars. Evolution's next gen shaders are doing a lot more but their speculars are too big and don't look right. GT5 and 6, OTOH, have perfect real world scale feel to their speculars on cars.

Looks excellent, but there is some aliasing issues. However Rushy at GAF said this:

The whole game looks so...flat. I really should just not comment further on the "if you dont have anything good to say" :p

You Playstation guys should wait till GT PS4, I'm sure that will do you a whole lot better than this.

I guess it is pseudo F2P, like KI. That can possibly explain some of it.
 
I disagree completely... I think the lighting and colors look realistic and not cartoony like some other racers. Actually looks somewhat similar to GT in some ways... I have always preferred this look.

Plus the lighting is dynamic...some of the footage is during a cloudy day. The Aston Martin video (sunset) does not look flat at all IMO.

The only thing they need to address is the aliasing, which apparently they have already. Motorstorm looked much better at release compared to their alpha build, so I have faith in Evolution.

I think it looks fantastic, aliasing is the main issue right now but it looks they already fix that problem. I hope we get a look at the latest build of the game soon.
