DriveClub by Evolution Studios [PS4]

The amount of geometry (God-Like), lighting and overall IQ is outstanding. This game has set the new bar for console racers. Excellent job Evolution Studio...

How can I go back to any other racers after seeing this? Just how? The visuals in this game is off the chart.

2 race videos:

Shame the YT videos are so badly compressed. Lightning looks very nice.

Wow ! The lighting is so damn yummy :p ! Godly atmosphere ! Godly Environments !WHen it turns from night to Morn : WoW !!!
Jagged power lines all over though.

- Handling of the car seems much much improved. It is now possible to do clean turns whithout bumping each sides of the road at each turn.
- 2 different cockpits view and most importantly:

There is one hood view! The best view for all my driving games!

IGN always does this.
Too bad IGN doesn't take advantage of extra bandwidth youtube offers, its the same poor quality as the videos they host on their own websites limited servers.
I guess if they were to always take advantage of youtube and uploading a superior youtube version there would give people less of a reason to watch content on their site!

Gorgeous! No frame stuttering, no tearing and no shitty slowdown.

Ya, handling looks much better. Still looks a little arcadey, but the game actually looks fun. Looks like they hit a good balance.

Apparently Evolution plans on releasing HQ versions of the recent videos on Monday.

Night time still looks weird to me, like every other game, where only the player car actually projects light onto the environment. Everyone else only applies a lit road texture and bloom.

I liked the one dash view that was closer to the window, best of both worlds. You can see more of the road, and you are still closer to the center of rotation so you can better sense what the car is doing. Some of the hood views drive me nuts, I usually end up using that view but then I hate how it messes up the feel for the rear wheels (since you are past the front axle in most cases).

“We’re big fans of wheels, so whether its Logitech or Fanatec we’d love to support their wheels if they choose to bring them to PlayStation 4.”
So it's Fanatec and Logitech decision not to support PS4 yet?
It's not like they couldn't use same old API of current USB wheels, they're all based on the G27, even fanatec has a G27 emulation mode which is what is used on PS3. XB1 seems to be in a similar cluster$%^ with wheel support.
So how is this Logitech or Fanatec fault, did they refuse to give Sony their new API?

logitech doesnt have a game division anymore for consoles, so they got no motivation to release drivers.

Which is a pain in the ass because I've got a driving force gt and I'm not going to fork out more cash for another wheel.

fanatec official statement is this:
Right now we cannot say if all or some Fanatec Playstation 3 Wheels (ClubSport Wheel, CSR Elite, CSR, GT3, GT3V2 and PWTS) will be compatible to the PlayStation 4 as there is no single (racing) game on the new Playstation which supports any ForceFeedback racing wheel at all. We hope that we can provide some information soon but it lies not in our hands at the moment.
Driveclub:
Last but not the least, Paul confirmed that Thrustmaster T80 & T500RS racing wheels will be compatible with DriveClub, but details about other models he can't say anything.
Sounds like some secrecy about VR stuff or upcoming products, they both apologize about not telling us more

You'd think they (aka sony) would make wheel support a system setting rather than leave it to individual devs to add support

Afaik they dont have their own api's. They use a mix of direct input and TouchSense forcefeedback from Immersion
http://www.immersion.com/products/touchsense-force-feedback/

ps: A bit ot but I just discovered there is a forcefeedback fishing rod available for the pc and 360 -Yay

They still sell G27 compatible with PC, PS2, PS3 ... how hard is to make drivers and make more money from PS4 sales

If they license technology from Immersion, maybe there are legal issues? This is a company that sued with their patent of putting two rumble motors instead of one, and they won. If I were Sony I wouldn't touch Immersion source code with a ten foot pole, it's an accident waiting to happen.

The way it works in console space is there are no system wide wheel drivers each game dev has to code directly to the forcefeedback wheel
