DriveClub by Evolution Studios [PS4]

That to me doesn't make sense, sorry. "Work" is also a rather subjective meassure - it would also work at 20 fps, I'm sure. Simply imagine Wipeout (which is also arcade) at half the framerate. Sure it works, but it just wouldn't be the same game.

Sure, it works. It will very well be playable. It might even be a good game, regardless of framerate. But it's still something that IMO should be not tolerated. It's a racing game - and a game which sells the image of driving super realistically rendered real cars at very high speed. It's a sin to have a game like this not at 60fps.

:devilish:

And yes, I'm pissed that I'm going to miss this simply because I'm not liking the trend of pretty graphics over framerate. Damn right I am.

I understand that completely. Going from KZSF MP to SP feels jarring and unsmooth. Then going from KZSF and BF4 to AC4 feels wrong, turning around and running in AC4, I can't help but want the same 60fps smoothness I feel in KZSF MP and BF4. It would make the game so much better. I am really happy that Deep Down is going fro 60fps, but if it goes for 720p, then that will also make me cringe, cos for me next-gen means no more 720p blurriness please.
But then I play Warframe, I know it doesn't have that 60 fps feel but it plays smooth as hell ! And I have already stopped wondering if it 60fps or not. I don't know what its doing, cos its the kindof super fast game which needs 60 fps, its basically Vanquish with cop and even more fluid movement, slides, jumps and magic powers added to the mix. So, its wrong that the game feels "right" at sub 60fps. THats what i meant when I said lets atleast try it out.

Seconded. It may have been tolerable in Motorstorm because it was kind of a fun arcade racer, but with a car game aiming for realism (at least the visuals are) and overall rather realistic driving behaviour, 60fps would have been a must in order to achieve the precision and feel of the game. Very disappointing, but I actually never expected it going by what was shown and what was said in interviews. I might very well pass on this as a result.

Motorstorm series improved in tech for a home console Arcade style racer...this new game series on this new hardware platform features the "realistic" ability to open the door and drive.

Expect new tradeoffs or sacrifice made initially...the idea of expecting all this grand realism tech on hardware that was designed and discussed is a bit unrealistic.

^Either 9th April or 4th September. No one knows.

Its really really weird that PS4 has such huge games like DC and Infamous coming out and there are really no tantalising trailers or footages being sent out.

How long has this game been in development again? There's some very bad project management there.
Looks like gonna have to finally get NFS for the time being.

There is always the chance that delay happened because of VR. They need a showcase game for that tech, and what better to use than a driving game?

I don't know, that still doesn't explain the long awaited new gameplay footage, media and what not. I'll be disappointed if there's not a noticeable graphics upgrade the next time I see it.

Hopefully they realizied they need to bring this out at 60fps.............

I'd be shocked if they 'decide' to go for 60fps this late. Wouldn't they have to pretty much re-write a lot of the game to adjust all the timings, since they built everything around 30fps so far?

Sony marketing is on a weird hold these days. Infamous marketing showed only bare minimum of content, Order was showed once just to give people something to see between launch and E3 2014, and DriveClub is MIA.

I think that this is mostly consequence of PS4 already selling extremely well. Spending another 10-50mil on marketing for all those games will not sell new consoles [in short term].

I don't think marketing costs are directly relatable to press secrecy.
For example Sucker Punch could show a whole lot more than they have during demos and videos, and that in no way would cost Sony any more money.

When asked about when it’ll launch, Rohde said, “We’re not announcing any specifics on that yet.” When pressed on if it would still come out sometime in 2014, Rohde refused to say, though Sony PR stepped in to say that we’d get more details soon.

If they don't release it in Q2 this year, it's a major FUBAR..... we could be looking at a one year delay.

Some people are suggesting it could indeed be 2015.

Man oh man, where did it go wrong ?
