On a related note, is there a DOA in arcades somewhere? The Big 4 I can always find - VF by Sega, Tekken by Namco, SC by Namco and SF by Capcom. But I don't recall seeing a DOA for... years(I "think" I saw one several years ago - dunno what version). Not popular?

DOA1 and DOA2 were in arcades, but not DOA3.
I never saw any DOA games in arcade though, but recently I haven't seen any virtua figher games in arcades. I used to see virtua fighter 1 a lot, sometimes vf2, once vf 3, but never 4. Tekken 3 and 4 I see a lot(more 3), there is almost always some capcom 2d fighter(like marvel vs capcom or capcom vs snk), and I've seen a few soul caliburs recently. But geez, my most wanted arcade games are virtua fighter 4 and fzero gx, and I can't find them anywhere!

And the mgs2 rain hack is that instead of calculating the rain drops as they hit snake, the texture just has rolling raindrops on it, regardless if snake is hit or not.

my post will probably be ignored again, but MGS2 PS2 does not dip below the 60 but for the scene with the hundred soldiers as you throw a stun grenade...

Yes it does. it be like ZOE2, doesnt dip in your face but slow-mo-ed. Not as bad as ZOE2, but you can still feel/see it. While i cant tell directly a game be 60fps or 30fps but realtime loss in fps is very visible to me.

Chap, the odds are against you, I'm afraid. The scene in question (tanker scene) does not dip below 60, even when having soldiers coming at you at the same time as opposed to the Xbox version. Anyway, regardless of what you claim, the point is still that the Xbox version is inferiour and at presence, we have nothing better than to go by what Konami named as reasons and the hardware specs which seem to make it plausible to believe so.

BTW: Does that laughable balance crusade of yours also include arguing against facts just for the sake of holding a balance?

actually back (wayyy back) in london when Namco wonderpark was still around I tried out what might have been a beta of sorts for DOA2. I trust this isn't the same version then?
Worldwide release outside of Japan, as it is for most arcade games, was sporadic. DOA2: Millenium Edition (DOA2: ME) was another Naomi update which included tweaks, fixes, and new costumes (I think Zach had a memorable ME costume.)

DOA2 originally started on Model 3, but I don't think they ever put that one out on a location test anywhere...

Whadda piece of crap fighting series. Btw, how can anyone take online fighting seriously, internet lag is just going to KILL this genre, which relies on split-second timing.

What do you mean ?

I thought the lag from the button presses pretty much kill it already ? I think all these smart logics that they doing for input, to accomadate or make the game playable for the masses, really screw up fighting games.
