Repi has almost stopped communicating with the world because anything he says will be used by trolls against him and DICE.

As for the SSAO, it's going to be in the X1 version after the patch, too. Chances are that frame rates aren't final either, but obviously we don't know if it will get better or worse (but the AO will probably affect them)

They said that it's near final code, so if SSAO gets added, I can only see the framerate getting worse on X1 when the PS4 version already had a more stable framerate overall. I wonder if DICE intentionally left it out of the X1 version for the event, knowing that guys like DF would be doing a frame rate analysis.

Or maybe they have enough wiggle room in the post processing segment to fit SSAO into it without a performance hit. Too early to tell.

So what is the conclusion on the PS4 blur? Did DF confirm it was their mistake or is it a reality?

900p is really excellent , except when it's blurred to hell :/

I'm wondering if it's a bug? Like a DOF bug, or AF bug, or combination. But that's only going by the DF images which may be borked.

Funny, as I remember seeing a similar gif which hinted at the Xbox One version looking a bit less washed out. I don't know how legitimate that pic is, because in the gif I mentioned the Xbox One version -the grass at least- looks the same as the grass in the gif.

Source of the images in that gif (or others) is of course questionable, my point was about how to make good comparison, where comparing two still images taken in same place and make gif (even though gif is also compressed) is far better than side by side 1080p youtube video where everything is blurred by terrible low bitrate compression.

I always giggle when someone judging quality by youtube video, no wonder every platform looks identical because subtle detail is wiped out by compression.

Maybe uploading side by side comparsion on youtube as 4K video would yield better results (at least I always watch 4K video when available, because that is version with best bitrate).

It'll be interesting to see if it's hardware or software bug, and if it's fixed in the retail xbox one, or can be fixed with a firmware update.

I believe it is software bug or they did it on purpose (as Arwin suggested), some people might like picture that way, that's probably why TV manufacturers keep on with all sorts of picture "enhancements", but to have broken output on console is preposterous.

I doubt it's intentional if the low range looks correct. If it were intentional I think they'd have gone with a bit of black crush on both low and full range.

I dont know where DF pulled this "software scaling theory". Is it done done by the AMD GPU like you could do on PC settings downscaling for AA?

No other footage shows the blur and no other site has mentioned it either.

Some other sites mentioned 1080p on both consoles ...
Also there is no other direct feed shots except for DF. Can we stop with conspiracy theories?

There's no conspiracy theory in play. A website that admits its capture was incorrect is the only one sating there's blur. Not rocket science really.

If it becomes a trend over the next 2 years or so, then I'll agree. But one game developed for 5 platforms, with unfinished next-gen tools and probably less time for specific optimizations (of which I'd guess X1 would've benefit the most from) I'd say its a bit too early for damning conclusions.

At least DICE prioritized framerate over resolution in a shooter. Good call IMhO.

I agree completely. This comparison actually showed how close the IQ is between the two consoles and PS4's extra horsepower is probably largely irrelevant. This game is a worse case scenario for X1 and to the average gamer they will look pretty close.

Grandmaster said that PS4 and PC version is an accurate representation of the looks. Only X1 version pics are broken due to the color range problem. He clearly states: that is the way PS4 looks in reality.

Bug, I guess...

The static images show BF4's snapshot on both consoles, subjected to capture issues. They actually look pretty far apart even to an average gamer like me. Someone needs to get rid of the blur (if present), then ship it !

Besides, there is no horse in PS4.
