Call Of Duty Black Ops 3

Took some MP screens in theater mode. The game doesn't look bad at all.

Any comparison to just share button?
it's just share button pics, no enhancement it's not a photo mode, you can just free roam in theater mode.

wha?

it's a map based on a dream or something like that i guess, i have not played the campaign yet.

Well. Where's the COD piece.

hmm the game still have that harsh sterile look like all CoD series. Probably design choice to make objects easy to discern?

btw Source games also have that 'sterile' look (Stanley, Portal 1 2, L4D 1 2)

So... half a year later, Phil apparently bought this too. And I'm still trying to figure out why...

<rant>

Seriously, this has got to be one of the worst investments of all time. What the fuck were they thinking? Now, I haven't bothered with the campaign mode and truth be told, I only got this because friends and I have been looking to get into a new shooter for multiplayer havoc for some time. I'm a really big fan of Battlefield 4 - yes - the online code is rubbish at times, but man, that game really was something. I've played pretty much all Call of Duty games (they were the ones besides KZ2 that got me into the whole competitive-online-shooter genre) and I always loved them - especially the ones by InfinityWard, aka Modern Warfare 1, 2 and 3. BlackOps was always kind of meh to me. But Call of Duty is CallofDuty, right? Usually a consistent baseline of multiplayer guaranteed fun.

Anyway, Battlefield 4 came along and simply rose the bar for me. More realistic, it just felt better. So naturally, I didn't bother playing Ghost competitively online (I did finish the campaign though). Anyway, months went by and ultimately, boredom had me buy "Advanced Warfare". I didn't make it past the first 20 minutes of the campaign, never bothered with the online multiplayer - I just didn't like the whole exo-suit aka Edge of Tomorrow kind of shooting and gameplay.

Battlefield 4 is basically dead online, Hardline never picked off (yeah, I bought that one too, go figure) so here in 2016, we're looking at BlackOps 3 and thinking, yeah, online used to be pretty awesome back in the day. It's Treyarch after all, how bad can it be? And it being Call of Duty, it's pretty much guaranteed to have lots of people playing it.

So it was a rather straight forward process when I bought and fired it up and jumped straight into the multi player.

Now, for the most part - the game is very solid. The graphics are rather nice after a while, the game runs incredibly smooth at 60fps and as always, Treyarch nailed the sound samples (IMO, Treyarch just always sounded better than the InfinityWard ones). Crisp, detailed explosions, subtle LFE channel. Nice. Now where my rant actually starts is the point at which Treyarch felt it was a good idea to actually make yet another futuristic shooter... Okay, fair enough, Black Ops was always rather futuristic after they finally made it past the first World War type games, but right now, I'm seeing weird weapons (or weird names of weapons)... but that would all be okay too, but why in gods name did they have to ruin the game with all the super jumps, the sliding, the walking allong vertical walls thing etc? We already had that crap in the last real "futuristic Call of Duty".

And IMO, these things really ruin the game for me. There's absolutely little strategic element in the entire warfare - there's just lots of running and shooting. The whole concept of sniping is rather pointless too, since the map design in addition to all the super moves make it pretty much impossible to snipe as a real sniper would. Every single spot in the level has multiple exits (or entrances) and the worst part; because everyone can effectively jump 3 stories high, you're never safe. Awesome. Then there are all these perks you can add to the player, the different "specialists" - and don't get me started on the even more annoying showing the 3 best players of the winning team gesture humiliation feature. It's rather pathetic and makes me wonder if 90% of all these players who play this (or came up with this at Treyarch) are a bunch of under-aged ****.

But the worst feature? The automatic kick for inactivity mechanism. Basically, if you do try to snipe and are staring a little too long in the same direction, you have to be careful not to be kicked from the match within aprox. 2 minutes. A little message with a warning pops up, warning you that you are about to be kicked for inactivity. But no, I'm not inactive, I'm just sniping you stupid game. Anyone who would be quick to point out to just move the stick a bit would be mistaken; You actually have to move your body by a whooping 30° to actually get that message to disappear and not be kicked. Even firing the weapon does not prevent that mechanism from kicking in. And no, when I snipe, i constantly move, just not beyond 30° when crouched. What an utter annoyance.

No seriously, I'm annoyed as f*ck with this game. Why couldn't they just make a normal Call of Duty game after the last one was already the 'futuristic science-fiction-fantasy' one? I just don't get it. Unfortunately, the "modern realistic shooter" is a rare bread at the moment. Battlefield 4 is outdated and nearly no one still plays that, the last realistic Call of Duty is even older (Ghosts) and besides that, there's pretty much nothing out there. What annoys me the most is that Call of Duty so far has always been a consistent experience. Yes, some of them covered the WW1 era, the other the present, then the Black Ops series the imminent future (emphasis on imminent). Then Sledgehammer came along and, fair enough, wanted everyone to feel like Tom Cruise did in Edge of Tomorrow. Fine. But why did they have to make Black Ops another one of those games? It's been 2.5 years since the last realistic Call of Duty (and Battlefield). It just doesn't compute.

The best Call of Duty IMO was Modern Warfare 2 and 3. 2 had the better campaign, 3 the better multiplayer. And the survival mode was one of the best I had ever played. And the whole spec-ops addition was brilliant too. They just struck a perfect middleground between realism, fun and diverse gameplay. Good memories. And I always liked battling against Juggernauts. The one opponent(s) that made your blood pressure rise. Awesome. But these past 2 Call of Duty games, they just don't cut it.

Anyone else with me on this or am I alone?
