Yeah, I think you're right, I can see a hint of an edge amongst the "check pattern".

You can see the handle near the crossfire connectors. also, this handle/cooler is screwed on without the need for a clamp like the 2900.

1GB, less capacitators than on RV740. Board is a lot cleaner.

Dang, looks like there's an even beefier strengthening bit of metal on top compared to 38xx/48xx.

It wasn't easy to flex the 38xx/48xx, but this should make it virtually impossible to flex the 58xx cards. Assuming 58xx gets the same cooler and whatnot.

The 64bit chip....

Something i have been meaning to post for awhile.

From the orginal mobile products leak here, there are 2 new 128bit chips pin compatible with the RV730 and RV740 and 1 new 64 bit part pin compatible with the RV710. From my previous post here:
Park HD5470M 12-15W
Park HD5450M 10-12W
Park HD5450M < 8W

Compares to in previous generation:
RV710 HD4570M 12-15W
RV710 HD4530M 8-12W
RV710 HD4330M 7W

Now the above are pin compatible and the same TDP, allowing OEMs much shorter validation period, they can just insert the new Park model to replace RV710, put a dx11 sticker on the case and start selling the thing very quickly

Some people might say like Nvidia's GT218, what's the point? Surely IGPs kill them and there is no market. That's fairly true for the 90% of people who buy on budget, but in the remaining 10% of customers are working on a different basic instinct and ask for the "best". For that reason the OEMs nearly always produce an upticked model including a 64bit graphics card at a much higher price to take advantage of these people.

Look at these models from the top 3 manufacturers:
HP Probook, HP Pavilion dv2
Acer Travelmate, Acer Timeline (depends on region whether option is offered)
Dell Studio, Dell Inspiron

(HP is currently number 1, but is in some danger of being knocked off by Acer by the end of the year)

All currently offer an ATI 64bit chip standard or as an option on the above notebooks. From AMDs point of view are they just going to walk away from this business for the next generation?

...obviously not hence the Park 64bit chip is included in the upcoming dx11 parts. This likely has a desktop equivalent somewhere in the scheme of things with an Evergreen name attached.

Looking at the desktops parts displayed so far there is obviously a high end chip(Cypress) and a performance/mainstream part(Juniper), the mobile codes also showed a second 128 bit part below the first that uses much less power this is Redwood.

By elimination the 4th Evergreen chip, the smallest and the last must be Cedar.

That metal bar was already present on the press edition of HD 4770 in almost exactly the same way/form - which i liked.

RV870 is now officially TeraScale2

Don't forget where you read it first. ;) To be precise it's 2nd Generation TeraScale Engine.

Cypress info kits have been sent out so expect more leaks with various marketingterms like Enhanced UVD2 (which support hardware acceleration decode of dual 1080p HD video streams) and ATi Eyefinity.

Oh and marketingnames have indeed been decided.

They dropped UVD3?
