^Amazon's seemingly large shipment probably helped with that. Crazy dominance in software.

BTW, the PS4 went below 999 today at amazon. There's currently 159 left and should sell out later this morning. Judging by the rate it was selling, I'm guessing they received ~20k PS4s.

At ~10:30 PM there was 402, now at 6:48 AM there is still 119 remaining. In ~8.5 hours 283 sold. Which is ~33 an hour.

I get that that's mostly overnight, but I'm pretty sure the selling rate has reduced. that is why it was able to stay in stock 6-7 days.

6:48-7:48 sold 20. 99 remaining.

By your times, 10:30PM to 3:30 AM over the span of 5 hours there was 250 units sold.

(presumably my 152 units was checked at 3:30 AM your time)

It's more like 50 units/hour during midnight

BTW, it's 105 now, another 14 gone within 30 minutes. Pace is starting to pick up again once everybody's waking up.

No I listed what I observed. At ~10:15 PM yesterday there was 402. At 6:48 AM, the next time I checked, there was 119.

My final reading at 8:50 AM, there are 41 PS4's left,. Should be gone within an hour tops if not a half hour.

That is a prediction by Michael Patcher right? Since he is just an industry analyst (and one who seems pretty hit and miss), I don't know that I would give him any more credibility in regards to removing Kinect from the XBox One than I would give your average forum poster here. Microsoft has been pretty clear in this regard. They have no intention of removing it. I think until I hear them say otherwise I'm going to just assume they are telling the truth.

They had no intention of removing Online DRM either.

Intentions are not promises, they're decisions based on predictions. Once it becomes clear that the business reality conflicts with those predictions... they have to change course. But I still think MS would make a drive-less XBOne before even considering a kinect-less sku. They're between a rock and a hard place.

You always monitor close to midnight or later then try to come to some sort of conclusion, and usually say that sales are slowing.

I monitored from ~5-8pm and they were selling around 166 an hour (sold ~500 during that period). That's up a bit from January and down a bit from February IIRC. However, the slight decrease in sale rate from February could easily be due to the fact that the PS4 was in stock longer, meaning the sales were high in the first 3-4 days, then slowed down a bit in the next 2-3 days. I doubt it was selling 166/hr in the first few days, and I'm pretty sure this shipment was larger than any other in January or February.

Well because that's when I've had a chance lately. I'd love to get a primetime reading. Your data is helpful though.

I dont know why people get so defensive, I think it's pretty natural for PS4 sales rate to be falling and they almost certainly will continue too until it's no longer sold out regularly. Whether that's in a week or 3 months.

Back in Dec or maybe early Jan I measured something around 1000 an hour. So to now be at 166 an hour is unarguably a hefty falloff.

Hell, Amazon said both PS4/Xbox One were selling 1000 per minute at their peak...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your method of messuring Amazon sales makes it pretty difficult to gauge sales above a certain threshold, because you can only start counting when units drop below 1000. Effectively, you are counting "the tip of the ice berg". If Amazon received a shipment of 10'000 - 100'000 units, it would take a long time for that to drop below the 1000 threshold and to get any idea on how well it is selling - and even then, you can only conclude how fast those 1000 sold, not necessarely the rest of that shipment. Also, I really do wonder how significant the sales of Amazon are as a whole. Are there any numbers that give some idea how many units Amazon has sold as a total of next-generation console so far and how this compares to other large stores?

Yes of course, that's a given, but this is the only window we get. It should reasonably extrapolate somewhat.

As for numbers, not really. I want to say maybe years ago i read Amazon was a fairly small percent, less than 10%, of market share. What it is today I dont know, but I still suspect something not too large.

OTOH Amazon is probably the closest there is to some kind of nationwide de facto online store, so that's why it has a lot of value and is heavily scrutinized (that and of course it's public sales rankings).

On another note, Titanfall XBO has taken over the top videogames bestseller list on Amazon. The first next gen software to get anywhere close AFAIK.
