If an athlete starts 40th and jumps 34 spots in 2/30 laps, I wouldn't consider that slowing down. ;)
Again, it's all about the comparison. Compared to everyone else, he's speeding up. Compared to his prior performance, he's slowing down. Rangers point is that PS4 is slowing down compared to what it was selling over a similar time period (I don't agree or disagree as I'm not paying enough attention to the numbers ;)).

It's only slowing down if the competitors are selling at the same pace as previous months. But as I said in my edit, that's probably not the case for the reasons I gave. Plus the ps4 has been in stock for less time than previous months. I say wait at least 1-2 days and see where it sits. Or wait until there's less than 999 so we can see the pace it's selling. Judging by rank alone doesn't make much sense to me, especially after such a short time

Sure, those are fair arguments why it may not be slowing down. You might be right. Just that your original point was that overtaking rivals was proof enough that it wasn't slowing down. Good performance against competitors doesn't tell us how well a product is doing compared to its own prior performance, which is my only contribution to this discussion. ;)

skribbles has a point too. The PS4 in say, February may have been in stock lets say, 8 days, and ended up 3rd. If in March it's only been in stock 3 days so far and it is 6th, not sure we can draw too many conclusions. It'll come back in stock more times this month presumably, and may move up more. Heck it could be the process of moving up now, it could be 2nd the next update. Generally the more it's in stock the more it should move up.

I just think a current 6th place it *may* indicate the vaguest of things, or may not. Really no big deal either way!

The first place game, Thief Gold, well I believe that was *free* at one point this month, hence why it exploded to the top. May be tough to beat.

I think not releasing that custom TF XB1 is a mistake, they could easily have sold more hardware than what they will sell.

Also anyone seen this poll(from gaf)?

Hold outs + PC = ~80% of votes.

Obviously it doesn't mean much, but i thought the XB1 number would be way higher.

While i in no way consider Titanfall a bad game, i think it is carrying a way to big weight on it's shoulders if this game has to carry the XB1.

It seems to lack a real SP game (?)
It is also a strong PC game and seems like it wont be that tough to run on PC's, and it's a FPS game which owners of XB1 and PC would in general prefer to play with mouse+keyboard.
It has some tough competition that isn't really finished yet (COD:Ghost and BF4)
And the toughest part is the Gold requirement to actual play the game.

I think the biggest hurt to XB1 unit sales would be that Titanfall isn't system exclusive as MS wants people to believe. Having it available on the PC and XB360 really doesn't help XB1 sales at all. I can see Titanfall pushing XB1 sales up (200k min, 500k max, worldwide), but not like how Halo and Gears pushed XB360.

I think Titanfall's effect on xb1 sales is not as interesting as the game's total sales. Has there even been a full priced MP-only commercially successful console game ever?

The ps4 has only been in stock for 2 days. And it is going up against better competition in the month of March (ie the titanfall bundle and titanfall itself) which would naturally cause the Xbox live cards to spike from the boost in hardware sales.

I think we need to wait 1-2 more days and see where the ps4 sits before we can make any judgement. Or wait until there's less than 999 so we can see the pace it's selling.

March rankings were updated and the PS4 is now 1st. So if we go by ranking alone, then is this a sign that the PS4's demand is growing? It also jumped to 2nd in sales for 2014.

40th to 1st in 3 days vs 7 days for everything else in the top 10. Titanfall bundle dropped from 13th to 14th. Titanfall jumped 7th to 5th.

can you list all of the others for me?

It's a short list.

Well, judging by the Amazon rankings the game looks to already be successful, it's the top next gen software even though it's on distant 2nd best selling next gen hardware, etc.

But yeah I've found that interesting myself. But it was one of the hallmarks of "next gen" when TF and Destiny where two of the big showcases for next gen.

I was thinking MS delayed 360 version, probably to increase sales of One hardware. But they went ahead and stayed with release of PC version. You dont have to worry about PC piracy so much with MP game.

PS4 STILL in stock, I think this is 5 days now? Still over 1000. This might be a record for longest in stock?

Edit: maybe 3+ days going by post time stamps (which posters may not catch first stock immediately of course, so it'll be longer). It seems like forever.

Sam's Club has some bundles... other than that, Amazon probably received a large allotment, keeping the PS4 in first place.

Still over 1000 PS4 on Amazon (time stamp post :D )

Has to be a record ever.

I wonder when it will get to #1 for 2014. It's #2.

Just got an email promotion from a large chain ala best buy here in Norway, they are promoting Titanfall for PC, X360 and X1 with a release on March 13th. I can actually place an order for the X1 version. But when checking their site for X1 hardware it says June 30th.

I know Norway does not make an impact in hw/sw sales worldwide, but this seems like a screw up by the store/EA/MS imho. And just seem to underline the notion of MS having issue with getting things right this generation.
