Not so bad meaning 4:1 in one of the strongest Sony country's, in this generation is...not so bad?

I'm not sure what the 360 figures were in Europe. Safe to say it's swung somewhat to Sony at least, but I cant say Xbox One isn't so far selling faster than 360 in Europe just like it is in USA. If anybody has any comparative numbers (say, X360 sales in France after it's third holiday), post em!

France is also consistently more friendly to Nintendo than other mainland EU countries.

Xbox 360 was between 3 PS3 to 1 360 and 2 PS3 to 1 360 against PS3 in France...

Any links?

PS3 also launched at 599 vs 399 for 360, and a year later giving 360 more time on the market to sell, though.

Market has definitely turned more towards PS4. Not arguing that!

Edit: Forza did make #1 in France a couple weeks ago, I knew I didn't imagine it. Of course it sticks out whenever an Xbox One title charts highly in Europe

Not sure if it was the first Xbox One title to make #1 in France. Or if there was one in Germany yet. I dont recall one in Germany, but I have only paid passing attention.

Halo 5 would be the best contender I suppose. It has to be a exclusive as any multiplat will sell better on PS4. What else launched week of the 27th? AC Syndicate was the previous Friday, would it's lingering sales on PS4 be enough to top Halo 5 XBO in Germany?

4:1 isn't good at all. Judging by software charts, I would've thought it was closer than that in France because you actually see XB1 titles in the top 5 once in a while, whereas the German charts are completely dominated by PS4.

I ask to a friend working in a video game store but the reality is different. The sales were more bias toward PS3 in his shop...

It is less than 2 PS3 to 1 360. 1,45 PS3 for 1 360.

Evidently the $150 Elite controller is selling like hotcakes

http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/1...tter-WP&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitter

The Xbox Elite Wireless controller was deemed far too expensive at $150 to be very popular. Except it’s been flying off shelves just as fast as it’s been hitting them.

Speaking to GamesBeat, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that inventory for the controller is in short supply, saying that they “are working quickly to get more units of the Xbox Elite Wireless controller in the hands of fans, and look forward to replenishing inventory in time for the holidays.”

The spokesperson added that the controller is also available as part of the Xbox Elite Bundle, which also includes a 1TB Solid State Hybrid Disk drive for more storage and faster loading. If you don’t own an Xbox One yet, it’s not a bad deal, and that goes on sale on Nov. 3.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer took to the NeoGAF gaming forums, echoing the statements of the spokesperson.

Microsoft is “definitely pleasantly surprised by the consumer response to this product,” he said. “The controller was designed for a niche consumer base, for the hardcore and pro players. We did not expect the demand that this controller received. We do plan on increasing production of the product to meet consumer demand.”

If you manage to find one on store shelves, consider yourself lucky. Otherwise, you might be looking at a Black Friday sale as the next time you can get your hands on Microsoft’s premium controller.

Quite strong for 360 then in France (albeit a 1.5 year headstart and PS3 at $599 to start). So I guess that is why XBO doing ok there.

I doubt they're 'selling like hotcakes'... just higher than MS anticipated. On amazon's rankings, it peaked at 18 and the PS4 controller currently sits at 17.
A lot of hardcore players probably picked one up early, but I doubt demand/sales will remain relatively high. That said, it does seem that there is a demand there for a premium controller and Sony may consider doing the same.

I don't think I'd ever spend $150 on a controller, but if they released a more premium version of the DS4 for say, $80-$100, with more durable triggers/shoulder buttons, sticks and improved battery life, I may consider. Everything else about the DS4 is already great.

Well, Elite Controller also had a very large pre release thread on GAF. Seems to have hit a nerve of demand.

And not exactly fair to compare a $60 controller to a $150 one, that's also sold out so it cant raise higher, that also should never be expected to sell as much as a standard controller. Besides that Amazon is not any good indicator.

What bothers me is some innuendo that I guess key analog stick parts are the same materials as the regular controller, and that's what's most likely to wear. Cant say I know really though, could be FUD for all I know. But, I hope for $150 they covered all bases. Although the controller still has some value I think even if it's no more durable than a regular controller, it would be nice if it was.

Edit: It's going for $275 from Amazon re sellers currently I guess. Was wondering about ebay and all that as always the case for sold out stuff.

All that before the price drop. And it's selling better than the Ps2, so much for the console market dying

If they drop the price to $299 with a slim model in late 2016-early to mid 2017 i can see them matching and surpassing Ps2 sales quarter to quarter up until the Ps5 is announced, at which point they'd need to reduce the price to $249 or $199 with another revised, cheaper to manufacture, SKU to match Ps2 sales.

I know directly comparing a $60 controller to a $150 controller isn't fair. Just saying that it peaked at 18, while the DS4 sits at 17 just on a regular day. Peaking at 18 doesn't indicate to me that it's a hot item. And judging by camelcamelcamel, it just recently went out of stock in the past couple of weeks and it's currently ranked 401.

As MS said, it's a niche item made for hardcore players. The initial demand just exceeded their expectations, but after that, sales for a $150 controller will fall off a cliff.

That Elite controller will probably be one of the best things to buy sometime next year when it's heavily discounted. Somewhere around $80-90 next black Friday perhaps. At $150 i don't have too much of a reason to buy that, i think it's a tad overpriced. And i am saying that owning a $150 mechanical keyboard :)

Amazing sales before first pricedrop.

As for beating PS2, next year will be real challenge. Launch aligned, PS4 now leads over PS2 with ~4.3M advantage. But over next 4 quarters, PS2 sold ~24M consoles. If Sony's financial forecast comes true, on April 1st there will be 40M PS4s shipped. Two quarters later [launch aligned], PS2 was at 49.6M. We shall see if PS4 can sell ~10M over spring and summer.

There is also a chance that PS4 can do quite better than what Sony predicts now. Pricedrop could have better effect than expected, game release schedule for early 2016 is quite spectacular, and PSVR should also come out in 1H 2016.

Personally I think PS4 will not hit the unprecedented mass appeal the PS2 did. I think far too many people have converted to gaming on smartphones for that. What will definatily give a boost to sales, like it did for the PS2 at the time, will be for a PSfour type model - smaller, quieter, more efficient and cheaper. This will be attractive for already owners because at some point, we'd rather have a smaller, quieter device than the current vacuum cleaner (relatively speaking). Those devices don't expand the market though. It just inflates it. The PS2 might have sold.. 140 million consoles during it's life, but the market was never that big. I think the unique buyers were probably more like around ~100 million if even that.
