Early adopters are always less price sensitive than late ones. That said, MS can realize a bigger pricecut to help the situation along with the unique console features you speak of.
perhaps. But I think you are underestimating the power of Kinect at a higher price as people learn and see how cool the living room tech is.

plenty... Of people will pay a little more to get "more" features or something to play the more compelling services and games

offers, if the features aren't working now there is no reason to believe they should work better later

sorry tkf. But what the hell kind of logic is that?? Lol.

not to mention, my x1 features are working pretty damned well and impresses everyone that tries it out.

repeating over and over that its a fail will not make it true

Does anyone have the sales-to-date numbers for Ryse? The one's that I have are for BestBuy/GameStop launch period.

And I think this is a big challenge for Microsoft. I've read numerous testimonies along the lines of 'Kinect is great once you start using it'. But there are lots of people want convincing the product is worth it before buying it, nor after. Perhaps what Microsoft need is a Kinect-centric advertisement because the way Microsoft are promoting Xbox One in the UK, Kinect and voice control looks like a minor tack on feature.

Has there been any updates on Xbox One and a release in the countries that was left out of the initial launch? I can't seem to find anything but early in 2014

BF4 stats update ~7PM central (2 AM Berlin)

PC 52,011
PS4 67,392
PS3 74,680
360 81,232
One 54,123

So...360 has moved into the top spot.

You know, for the fun of it, if you told me where you are taking these numbers from and if they are easy enough to scrap, I could create a script/RRDtool graph that polls the numbers on a regular interval. Not that I think BF4 online numbers are in anyway significant, but I'm bored... :devilish:

Any idea how often the stats are updated? Is there a closer more official source? (I'm not sure if this site just scraps from a different place)

Don't know. The official site for stats should be the battlelog site (in this case battlelog.battlefield.com), but I can't find the needed stats. Either I need to log in (using origin acc) or I need to browse on desktop (currently on mobile).

Edit: I just kept refreshing the site and the numbers definitely changed in less than 10minutes.

Yeah it's bf4stats.com...and i dont know where they get the numbers, I assume from that battlelog thing.

That would be cool. I already though of checking and recording the site data hourly for 24 hrs, the problem is, sleeping...

Well damn, I had done 7 hours in Najena with some others so we could all get the damn JBoots and I thought I was hardcore!

Ahh.. jboots :D It probably wouldn't fly these days but I liked EQ for forcing you to learn to play or lose experience, levels and equipment if you couldn't recover your corpse. Some lessons were brutal. Some of the spawn rates were ridiculous though.

Please disregard the error in the graph where a few drop of significantly. Had a small error in my regular expression, but decided to keep the otherwise accurate data. The numbers are polled in 5 minute intervals. The first graph is a 5min average and shows the last 24 hours, 2nd graph 30min average and the last 7 days, 3rd graph is a 2 hour average and shows the last 31 says. There's also a yearly graph, though that data hasnt been generated yet (24 hour average, last 12 months).

It should be quite fun to watch this develop over the next few months. BTW: graphs are updated every aprox. 20minutes (though the weekly, monthly and yearly graphs by lag behind due to the averaging of data).

Here's a link to a seperate page on my server if you dont want to find this post:

If anyone has similar numbers from other games (Cod:ghosts???) that i can poll, let me know. It would be easy to make a graph of them too.

:)

Nice graphs, of course we can make tons of guesses now. But what timezone is the graph for, CET?

Yeah it's CET and represents the time of my local server that does the polling.

I have to say, I'm quite suprised by the PS3 numbers (relative to the X360 ones). Wasnt aware BF was that big of a game on the PS. When I used to play CoD (MW3 and BO2), they used to display the online numbers by platform as well and i recall X360 always being ahead by quite a margin. Maybe my menories are playing tricks on me and this is actually a longer time ago or I've let occasional glances cloud the bigger picture. If anyone knows where i could poll CoD, that be quite interesting too. Are they around the same popularity or is CoD still considered to be the online multiplatform shooter still?

PS4 and Xbox One posted incredible sales figures in the UK, with Sony coming out on top.

PlayStation 4 has sold 530,000 units in the UK in just five weeks, according to ERA (using Chart-Track data), while Xbox One has sold 364,000 units. It's a significant gap between the two competitors, although both numbers are significantly higher than any previous console launch.

PS4 hardware sales generated £181.8m on the UK High Street, while Xbox One made £144.5m. Together, that means the UK market made over £326m from next-gen console sales.

ERA director general Kim Bayley said, “Games continues to deliver digital sales strongly, but it was disappointing that Xbox One and PS4 came so late in 2013 and then huge demand meant stock sold out quickly. Retailers will be working hard in 2014 to maintain the sales momentum of these two great new pieces of kit.”

Launch dates were Nov. 29th for PS4 and the 22nd for Xbox One. Pretty impressive considering the PS4 seems to be more supply constrained (in stock at amazon.co.uk but the PS4 is out of stock).

So for the UK it's 60% PS4, 40% XB1. Not a great start for MS but not a horrible one. That's still nowhere near the 4:1 or 3:1 numbers some have been extrapolating.
