Ok you're going to want to reduce those screenshots, because they're too big. ;)

We don't have anything further as yet as to the definitive means via which B/C is being acheived, just that however that is, the results will be upscaled.

Too late....

I would SO love it if PS1 and PS2 games looked that good! It'd be great to play Driver again (though without rumble, I'd need to keep an eye out on the radar!)

I expect a system-on-chip PS2, just like there was a PS1 in the PS2 ^.
so, no emulation but inclusion of the previous hardware.

This conversations been had several times actually. Mind you, the present slimline PS2's already have the EE and GS on a single chip; but it would still be an expensive route to take in the short term.

There's talk of transistor considerations on the RSX possibly, and EE emulation via Cell. I'm sure the discussion will play out here again soon enough.

Sorry for the img. size.

Im usually against filters etc with emulation..but when u use it on psone games its like they where from another generation, especially the late ones like dino crisis, mgs, chrono cross etc...

What makes you think it has to be one or the other?

Well, I didn't say it did. ;)

BUT, at the same time I don't expect it to be both a full EE+GS and a robust emulator backend, y'know? The 'middle road' approach I feel is the one espoused by the hardware considerations on the RSX.

Indeed they look so different. I ll b e happy as well if the same imprvement is done on the PS3. There are also many PS2 games that are suffeeing from some aliasing and that doesnt do games' justice. Killzone for example is visually a work of art on the PS2 but the aliasing is ruining the real quality

Am I the only one not thinking about old games for backwards compatibility? God of War 2 comes out in 07 guys! Will probably be the last ps2 game I buy. Upscaled on PS3 would be very nice.

I'm not knocking you guys though, I would love for my PS1 games to look that good also. Xenogears anyone? :)

Anyone else have a 720 native display that was horribly disapointed at "upscaled" xbox games on 360?

I'm curious how they can emulate the (to this day insane) bandwidth of ps2?

Well, that's the question on everybody's mind, and the key point of all former debates on the subject.

It's worth checking the prevous threads on this where it was discuessed extensively, but it looks like workarounds are definitely possible without the need for extra eDRAM like hardware. eg. There's no texture compression on PS2, so that alone is giving PS3 4x the relative texture BW, 80+ GB/s.

I wouldn't be surprised if BC for PSX games were going to look that good. I'm not sure about PS2 titles though.
