3D Dot Heroes (From Software)

3D Dot Heroes will include mini-games:

Block Defense -- Tower defense:
It has mini-games too! Block Defense (pictured above) is a tower defense style game where you place fire, slow, missile, and arrow blocks that attack monsters running on a map.

Dash Race -- Racing
Dash Race is exactly what it sounds like, a footrace mini-game. You can earn prizes by playing this if you complete the course fast enough.

The game sounds bigger and deeper everytime new information is released.

When's the Hong Kong edition, like Demon's Souls it was in English, of the game coming out? I will buy it from PlayAsia.

Incredible, simply incredible!

This game actually makes the visual effects into gameplay! I can't believe all the uninventive garbage that gets hyped because of their shaders, while this game actually uses them in the gameplay. I might seriously consider getting a PS3 for this game. Or maybe a port to PC wouldn't hurt.

From Software created a few sample characters and gave it away using the game's built-in character sharing/trading system:

Not surprisingly, one of them looks like Link, the green hat dude: Link

Probably old news by now.

Atlus will be localizing and distributing 3D Dot Heroes in US: :)

People who imported the game have already created interesting characters. Here's a hero with his doggie:

3D Dot Heroes Christmas patch:
http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/12/07/3d_dot_game_heroes_update/

This update adds such things as HDD install and a loading screen viewer -- apparently stuff that fans have been requesting.

DLC:

Paid content will kick off with a single download contents pack consisting of 10 pieces of edit character data and 10 new stages for the Block Defense mini game. This DLC pack will sell for ¥250.

A second DLC pack will be available on January 8. Priced at ¥100, this will include 15 pieces of edit character data.

Atlus posted a new 3D Heroes video:

I remember the sword is supposed to increase in size as you kill more enemies. May be that's hard mode ? In the video, you can visit the Black Smith to up your sword size.

The optional hard drive install and load screen viewer from the recent 3D Dot Game Heroes patch are built into Atlus’ version. Extra block defense levels and character edit data, which were released as paid downloadable content in Japan, are included on-disc in the North American version of 3D Dot Game Heroes. You’ll be able to start the game as a car, tank, shark, Santa Claus, and the “President” from Metal Wolf Chaos.

...

3D Dot Game Heroes had a ton of video game humor and Atlus plans on preserving the tone in their version. “The localization was kept as true to the original as possible,” Scott Strichart, Project Lead, explained.

[blah...]

3D Dot Game Heroes hits North America on May 11 and it only costs $39.99 here.

I didn't know Atlus is going to release it for cheap ! ^_^

The origin of 3D Dot Game Heroes ^_^

Silicon Studio Talks 3D Dot Game Heroes And How They Started Making Games (evolved from a middleware company):
http://www.siliconera.com/2010/03/1...ame-heroes-and-how-they-started-making-games/

3D Dot Game Heroes is a title the US is excited about. How did you come up with the idea for it?

It came from one artist. One artist made a simple demo and that started the game.

I’m not sure if you can confirm this, but maybe it’s inspired by a certain green tunic wearing hero?

Hahaha. Let’s say a little bit.
