[360, PS3] Crysis 2

It's, also, convenient to be the perfect distance from the Sun (not too hot and not too cold). What were the chances of that? ;)

Yeah but whatever the outcome 'HDR' would have been present!

I guess we can say all the players in Crysis 2 have a severe case of hemorrhoids. That would conveniently explain the animations, though. :)

True, they move like Belgian Blue bulls.

I like my lighting course and strong, gives me the extra oomph:). But really, whatever method GG used to simulate HDR is working out like a magic for me even though some may feel immune to its charm.

Can I say without getting hammered that this new Crysis 2 trailer looks better than the new KZ3 MP trailer:cool: ! Sunlight seems too white and too "overdone" in that Boulevard map of KZ3, as if they are forcing you to say "Hey, its so pretty !". This, on the other hand, looks really really nice !
No you can not! j/k.
To be fair we need a direct feed 720p version of that compressed youtube trailer, I'm surprised it's still none existent at this stage.

The link Scofield gave is to 720p *.mov direct feed video. It's the one I used to take shots.

No, it's nice with nice use of bloom to. Was just curious to see if it would have been waved off from a tecnhnical perspective with endless excuses.

True, but thick cloud cover would probably block most visual hints of it! ;)

You know this could go on forever right? Also thanks. :)

That or they are suffering from some serious chaffing.

I could line up endless excuses about how the suit makes you stiff but I think especially in multiplayer animations seems basic while in singleplayer there is more procedural animations. Atleast thats how it was for Crysis where singleplayer animations being very good with procedural animations, dynamic reaction to world objects (hand cover the face for flying debris etc) and in multiplayer more of the general standard game animation system for the upto 32 players.

I can only assume so far that either it is becouse of simpler animation system to save perfomance or to save bandwidth considering how many objects can change state in realtime in multiplayer given the dynamic factor it has. I'll judge it fully when I see it in the PC version at PC perfomance class settings.

Actually I was referring to the new killzone 3 MP footage which only has a low quality YT version. Tomorrow will be a nice day for us graphics whores/enthusiasts to finally do some meaningful analysis on the 360 beta. It's a shame PS3 & PC version would have to wait:(.

Just saw the Crysis MP trailer. Based on the 2 MP videos, the C2 game concept is more interesting than KZ3 (boost, invisible suit, more dramatic presentation). Need to see how mech, assist bots, jetpack and the advanced classes work out in KZ3 gameplay.

New IGN preview is up including new footage:

Basically the preview guy raves over the graphics, but then spends most of the preview complaining that the controls are laggy, which seems really odd. Wasn't a problem in stress test...

Crysis 2 was so striking, in fact, that it took me a few minutes with the game to realize that something wasn't quite right with Crysis 2's controls on the 360. Eventually, it hit me: Crysis 2 on 360 has some seriously laggy controller response. While some of Crysis 2's control idiosyncrasies make sense - a delay between hitting the jump button and flying into the air makes you feel like a cyborg hurling himself upward - simple things like aiming and strafing just aren't as responsive as they should be. What breaks my heart is the theory that this might be tied to the preview build's framerate - if Crytek UK (formerly Free Radical of TimeSplitters and, uh, Haze fame) can tone the graphics down in multiplayer somewhat to get something that feels more responsive, it would be the right move, but it would still hurt my heart a little.

But MLAA too has a lot of flaws in motion, like shimmering; I'm curious to see in motion this custom AA how work,

Supposedly Cryteks method gives good results even for subpixel sized geometry and seems to give good results for transparencies. IMO it all is a mather of tradeoffs vs results and choosen visual tone.

I know it's not standard practice, but you think there's a chance they could be using triple buffering and that's the cause of the extra controller latency?

If the tearing from the earlier stress test is fixed, this could have been one of the ways they resolved it. However I'm sure Crytek were memory starved already, not sure they would want to do something that eats up even more memory

A couple of other previews mentioned the controls but nothing to the degree the IGN guy did and most didn't complain about the controls at all. I'm inclined to believe the IGN guy is just off his rocker.

Some of the pics from Gamespot.

The first pics is funny though, says press "P"... what?

May be playing on different build ? or even platform ?

Hey there were people that didn't even find killzone 2 input latency that much.
So maybe some were bothered with it and other werent. Hell my brother finds that in gta 4 the input lag not even that much while if im not mistaken it was over 200ms.

The IGN preview guy didn't mention any event in his article. Not sure how the review cycle works out for him. If so, I thought he may be playing something different from those at the event.

He also compares it with the PC version he played a month ago. So he has a clear reference. Not sure about other guys.

All the previews are from the same event in San Francisco. The Joystiq previews says

you simply punch a car or just hold down the A button on the Xbox 360 controller (the console on which Crytek was demoing the game) to tap into the suit.

TheKartel preview says

With this being my first EA press event, I didn’t know what to expect...other than the free food and drinks on the house and the 20 TVs all set up each with the Xbox 360 Crysis 2 multiplayer demo out for display.

And that same preview includes this pic (showing 360's running the game)

No preview has mentioned the PC version being at the event that I know of. And I believe it's specifically a preview linked to the 360 demo release so that makes sense.

Anyways the demo is out (if it's the usual time) in ~14 hours so we'll see soon.

It's also been mentioned the demo ends Feb 4.
