[360, PS3] Crysis 2

Wow are those with a modded graphics configuration? Looks really good, much like the original Trailer from 2006.

Custom TOD and custom very high+ config with custom SSAO darkness and HDR intensity values. The reason they run in slow motion is becouse I set it by engine command to to let the viewers flavor it real good (videos I uploaded 2009). The best part IMO is that I in the videos description have screenshots with framerate counter for those that didn't believe it could run in realtime. I am sure they got a shock seeing what framerate it had for an E8400/4870 (my setup/config back then). :D

What's special about the suit ?

Different suit modes. They have changed layout and function for Crysis 2 but Crysis had speed, strength, cloak, normal mode. All modes drain suit power so they can only be used briefly or limited time but they give you the chance to turn a situation to your advantage. Imagine being flanked by enemies and cornered without chance of surviving just by running or fighting (the nades will flush you out). So switch to speed mode run past enemies and even knocking them down by the force and then do a fast switch to strength and do a big leap jump behind some bigger obstacles and while in air switch to cloak and when you land offset your position to recover!

Tons of possibilities!

The footage looked pretty nice. Especially the ragdoll animations on the enemies, wow.

Seemed to be a lot of tearing though. Odd. Maybe it proves they were running on console though? (Presumably 360).

Really wasnt a whole ton of footage of course 30 seconds of actual footage is divided into 15 2 second clips during various interviews in typical annoying GTTV style.

Footage is still 2.5 hours from being uploaded to Gametrailers.com

Most of the screen tearing should be caused due to the video itself & not the game.
Though the movement & turning did indicate that its being done with an analogue stick rather than keyboard/mouse.

Cool I was wondering about that because it's really terrible.

Now that I've seen the footage in HD though, wow! I mean you can still see some console limitations, the faraway horizon/building tops doesn't look so great, etc, but some of the closeup stuff is just a new console high for fidelity, and really does seem to be high end PC quality.

Episode link.

I rather have a back of mind fear this game will end up in 2011 though. The only supposed leaked retail system release date I've seen is December, and games almost never get released in December. Like it's begging to slip a quarter. But I hope not.

Nice, looked a lot better than I expected in motion the special effects and destruction especially. The draw distance did suffered greatly and the texture didn't look all that great neither. I didn't see any GI though, isn't that supposed to be running on consoles as well?

Yeah well no one expected it to be in the league of Crysis or even near it. But for console it looks really good (with tech and IQ in mind) and offers nice destructibility although it seemed quite limited in video. What is a bit of a downer for me is the FEAR2 style gameplay vibes and UT'ish weapon design. AI also seemed unwary and not suspicious and 'alive' like I have experienced in Crytek games.

Also what is up with GT showing Crysis gameplay footage from their old review video(s) at MEDIUM settings? Smoothing out the "curve"?

It's not just the draw distance but the low number of enemies on screen. Practically every other console FPS can do a lot more, the action here feels kinda limited. It may look kinda disappointing when they release it at the same time as KZ3, COD7 and Reach...

At one point a crytek guy mentioned "8 people shooting you at once" (when he was talking about different loadouts) immediately that rang out to me as a possible cap. Max of 8 enemies onscreen?

That's fine with me though. IIRC Gears 1 had even a lower cap than that and it's like my favorite game this gen.

I am sure it is higher than that for all versions. Maybe they just mean the part regarding difficulty regarding enemies that can do serious damage for difficulty reasons in close quarters combat. I mean I dont really see why they should go down from Crysis upwards 20 active soldiers and Warheads 40 active soldier cap that navigates in a much more complex navigation layout.
