It's dissappointing not see the GI in these shots
TBF, lighting and physics are probably the most impressive thing about Crysis so you probably can't tell a lot just from a screenshot. Not sure why, but I can't say it looks slightest bit impressive, honestly. If I didn't know these were Crysis 2 screenshots, I would've just scrolled past them thinking it's yet another shooter. In part, it could be because after going from FarCry to Crysis, I would expect similar leap in presentation quality from Crytek, which I don't think is here (yet?). Could also be due to this game taking place in a city environment. But even so, I think some of GTAIV scenes looked much more lifelike than new Crysis. Hopefully the PC version will look a bit better than the stuff they're showing to us right now, though, developers rarely show much footage that is far below the quality of the final product.
The dynamic GI seems to seriously limit the scope of the game to small, enclosed areas...
Yes, but didn't they also talk about SSGI to get light bleeding effects for longer distances?Light propagation has limits to distance... you'll get artifacting at some point unless you ramp up the settings, which is not going to be fun on current console hardware.
Hmm...i have the newest scans from some Polish magazine and to be honest it looks incredible.Textures, building details and trees look like those but there is alot more going on.Alot of fire, smoke, particles, explosion.Just like it would look in motion, and honestly it looks absolutely gorgeous.I dont know if those scans are console version or PC but i guess since mag writer says they could not believe game ran on 360 until they seen its lights and that it totally exceed expectations it could very well be on consoles, and if it really is then i have never seen better looking game in my life, seriously.
Anyway, those shoots look a bit to clean, with no smoke,no motion blur,no nothing...that makes them look generic and bland so i doubt this is how game will look like...
thanks for the link!Apparently for Crytek it's OK to post scans in their forums, so I'm linking to them:

The most impressive thing about Crysis 2's visuals is the somewhat mind-boggling idea that you can go anywhere. And of all the cities in the world to do it in! Rockstar did open world New York first, of course, but with Crysis 2 Crytek is taking urban sandbox visuals to the next level. New York is one of the tallest, densest cities in the world. There is verticality here, aided by the city's world famous skyscrapers, that fits the super cool Nanosuit like the rubber gloves of the… er… Nanosuit. Crytek's recreated New York so accurately and with such vibrancy and detail that it'll surely go down as one of the technical accomplishments of this generation.
