[360, PS3] Crysis 2

well each iteration has gotten more polished. the stress test was a real disaster, the leap from that to the first x360 demo was huge. Although the graphics didn't change much, just the bugginess.

Rooftop and Pier 17 are some of the ugliest maps by far and they look good. I've got to see some other ones and the shit is of the charts and that was not even highest settings. Makes promo pics look ugly. I am certain it will be the graphics pusher game on console and on PC it smokes Crysis, warhead and Crysis Wars at very high/ultra with ease. And hell much leaked footage available on the net has been run in editor where half the shit doesn't even get activated or rendered (FRAPs record viewport only so editor bars are never seen. just like with SandBox 2). It's insane how Crytek can make a game look much better in DX9 non highest setting than any other DX11 PC game at max setting. Mind f* blown.

That said 13 days left to get to play this game, can barely wait.

Yeah I'm wondering when the 360 pirate version will leak, could be soon (though I hope not for crytek's case). At that point we'll probably see some youtubes of full game 360 version, which I may look at a little. Of course not so much I spoil too much...

Actually I guess I should not look at anything ...always best to go into games and movies alike mostly as blind as possible imo...but I might not resist a peek.

When does the 360 review embargo lift?

And yeah spoiling SP is no good and you never know if it is a troll spoiling major stuff. I've barely watched any videos of SP. MP however is no biggie to spoil.

When does the 360 review embargo lift?

No idea.

Killzone3's review embargo was up like a month before the game came out, OTOH Bulletstorm's review embargo didn't lift til like noon the day it released or something, for opposite ends of the spectrum.

Guessing C2 will be more like the latter.

It's not a bad MP game actually, I like how the powers like active camo recharge so quickly, I don't quite understand how you get spotted though, is it like COD when whenever you fire you show up on radar? Or only if they have the UAV thing online?

There's perks that can help. There's a motion detector perk which is invaluable for campers and there's also one that lets you know when somebody enters cloak nearby.

Really? I've seen some other maps from the multiplayer progression trailers but aside from Pier 17 the rest don't really seem all that impressive TBH. How many MP maps are there on launch?

Textures seem to be a lot more defined on the PC. I actually preferred the look of the PC more. Both look great overall.

I wonder if the SP would look as sharp as the PC MP demo.
Agree. The PC version has better textures in certain areas, the lighting looks better and it's obviously sharper. Both look great though... very nice for console.

This is the actual video:

Lighting/bloom in the PC version is way overdone, IMO. 360 version looks a lot more realistic because of it.

It got a kind of HDR glare effect thats is a bit on the strong side but might be side effect of demo having gimped rendering. Anyway you can disable it or set graphics to low to get it to the same type as 360. It's very nice though when not overdone.

Add that the PC demo settings are gimped, high "hardcore" is not high at all for example. Theres a lot of missing effects, and reduced rendering quality and precision and much more.

I find most of the other maps to look quite a bit better than my Crysis/Warhead with ultra config. Mind you though I got a chance to seem them in person as in seeing it running on a PC live (leak) and unlocked semi high shaders and high settings. Thats what I based it on. Looks more than head and shoulder beyond anything else and that MP alone.

If anyone wants to see what I gauge vs and my standards (lol) just browse the PC screenshot thread for my shots.

Sounds like there's quite a substantial improvements in the real High setting then, can't wait to see it. Still no news for DX11 tessellation?

Yes and also better use of the rendering tech. Also one MP map that takes place at nightime in city (has been shown in some trailer) has lots of dynamic lights. Avg of 200 and places it goes well above 300 dynamic lightsources (just remembered the old dynamic lightsource talk). It's clear game will not only sport tons of tech but also showcase it with games art in a beauthiful way, for all versions. I'll bet SP looks even better than MP maps.

Also the nanosuit detail is rich. The texture detail is way above previous Crysis games and the best Crysis nanosuit texture mod. Guns to with textures so clear you see text writen on it has sharp edges at closer distance.

I would say the nanosuit texture in this old promo pic is pretty much legit except promo pic one has probably worse shading on it but a bit better colormap but not mapping layer. Though geometry seems higher the suit looked all smooth at similar distances.

As a simple gauge the visuals I saw in MP maps are way better visually, techwise, detailwise and in realistic and/or realistic painting alike looks than...

In short better than any promo pic. They improved tech, mapping/textures, art and TOD use and more.

That is not the ingame model, thus not the ingame textures either. That is the highres source model they use to bake the normal maps from.

In fact I doubt if the image itself is ingame at all. Maybe it's in-engine background with prerendered hero character and lots of Photoshop work...

Maximum Tessellation. ಠ_ಠ

Yep, BIG difference:

Thats not nanosuit which has much higher texture detail. Actually watch the trailers of Crysis 2 where they show cutscene parts with nanosuit soldier picking of a weapon and getting hit by a projectile from an APC. Thats the minium detail and shading is same.

This one is 100% legit but due to capture being from low-bitrate trailer IQ suffers. Anwyay mapping was really detailed and sharp even at something like 20cm distance view when I saw it. Chest area colormap suffered a bit but arms and head colormap + mapping is superb. As I said it rivals that CGI nanosuit with ease texture wise and shading wise.

Yeah I know that but end result rivals it in texture detail. Geometry wise it is way way less but the budget has been spent in such ways it looks very smooth even at close distance (couple of meters).
