[360, PS3] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Ostepop, how did you get a 110 win streak, playing FFA?

I had a great time yesterday. I was playing Search&Destroy, Domination and Capture the flag mostly and we were really working as a team, which was pretty awesome.

Compare that to last week when we had a couple of campers when playing domination and I wish there was a way to kick this kind of people out. The rest of us were busting our asses to win and these two people were waiting in the villa (Estate level) doing nothing.

I expect to hit level 70 this week, then will probably give it a rest until new year. The game can be so frustrating at times yet so fun.

Oh and I finally got the 1887, so it's payback time :devilish:

Path 1.07 released for PS3.

- They finally nerfed the 1887 akimbo, no more getting killed from 20 meters away BS.
- 10th prestige hack was fixed as well.
- Private match glitch corrected.

I guess everyone will switch to akimbo rangers now

Yes.

Finished the SP.
Overall i loved it. It is very short, but its varied, filled with good action and cool spec ops moves. (And i play these sort of games for multiplayer anyway). They are very good at portraying scale, the illusion of the big fighting in some places is very good.

I love the more tactical "spec ops" missions that we became slightly familiar with in MW1.

Contrary to what specwar said i did not find the enemies to have any better aim than they did in previous call of duty on veteran difficulity setting. They have just about the same super aim as they allways had.

All in all this sp game is imo the best cod sp game, as there are no infinite respawns. This also makes veteran difficulity alot easier, as you can allways just kill off everybody, but this is very much to my liking.

Myself I'd put it as the second best CoD single player. I liked the first CoD campaign much better. The river crossing level was just intense.

Definitely agree on the infinite respawns though. Makes the game feel a bit more realistic, although now the SP is pretty darn easy if you are a cautious player. Still, MW2 along with CoD 1 are head and shoulders above all the other CoD single player campaigns.

And with regards to infinite respawns, there are times when I think it's still appropriate. For example a D-Day storming of the beaches or the above mentioned River Crossing level in CoD 1.

But I can't think of very many modern day scenarios where infinite respawns would make any sense, especially with modern militaries being as limited in numbers as they are (with the exception of China) and most engagements being relatively limited in scope. Especially with the Modern Warfare series focusing on Spec Ops small scale engagements.

Regards,
SB

I got the PS3 version of the game, was wondering how good the 1080p scaling is, should I just let it output at 720p instead and get my Bravia to do the scaling?

My PS3 is connected to a 46" Sony V5500 and the game looks good to me when I let the console output 1080p. Haven't done a comparison vs 720p upscaled by the TV, though.

I don't think it will make much of a difference considering how fast paced the game is.

Just try both and check? No idea how bad\good bravia scaler is.

Yea, problem is it takes quite a long time to swap the settings and compare so I forget what the previous setting looked like.

I think outputting in 720p and letting my TV upscale reduces input lag somewhat and looks less pixellated. Interestingly MW2 looks lower res than 1 did on my 360, perhaps due to the 360's excellent 1080p scaling.

Is this something you've verified somehow or just a gut feeling? I don't see how letting your TV do the upscale could reduce input lag in a noticeable way.

PS3 output set to 1080p: game renders to 600p -> game upscales to 1080p
PS3 output set to 720p: game renders to 600p -> game upscales to 720p -> TV upscales to 1080p

Mods coming to consoles !

How is this done? I mean how can one install mods on consoles :???: ? Genuinely asking.

ALso, has the MP been raped like this on the PC side. I still haven't got this game, which is pretty strange in itself as I have been an avid COD fan since the first COD(all IW titles though, PC always got the best !), but lost interest in MW2 when the trailer showed more civilians than army men in it. COD was WAR between two uniformed armies, the trailer felt more suited for Ranibow Six.
Ok, the point is that I haven't bought it, not played it, but my plans of buying whne cheap will also vanish if this(the above link) is what is happening in the MP of the game. Is it that bad ?

These exploits are not frequent...cause I for one have to encounter a person using it even a single time.
But the fact that this exists in this game even after 3 patches & is there even on a closed system as a console...is just plain stupid & hilariously epic of a fail.

I'm fairly sure it isn't, though I would have to try. KillZone2's definately are, MW2 shouldn't be (I tried backing them up a while ago - see the PS3 hardware failure topic).

MW2 MP is the worst MP I've played on PS3. Single player is ok, finished it in 6-7 hours, hard difficulty. Graphics are ok, but quality difference between characters and environment is big imo. Low res textures everywhere, ugly water.

I've experienced so much ' funny ' deaths , no realism. I can say so much thing about why mw2 mp sucks but I don't wanna waste my time :] , I'll keep playing my precious ;] and gonna trade MW2 with Heavy Rain or MAG.

don't play it like you would battlefield or ghost recon. it's very much an arcade shooter. play around with some classes and stick to objective-based modes and you should have fun.

MAG is a completely different, more deliberate type of game though. You might like that if you can't stand MW2.

Before you do, try to join me in a game or two. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather play KZ2 with you again, but MW2 has some great gameplay to offer which IMO is very different to the other games. It takes a while to get to grip to it, but when you do, it's a lot of fun.

I've pretty much settled down playing the game-mode "Mosh Pit" which randomly selects one of all game modes. It's fun, because you usually end up with fair teams and get to battle it out in some awesome mission objectives. I tend to think that Team-Deathmatch matches get to get boring quick and lag is soooo noticeable in this game and can immediately put you at a disadvantage. If you play it in groups of people though, it's a lot of fun.

The bfbc 2 demo is srsly underwhelming (esp compared to the bfbc1 demo)
So it looks like I'll have to play mw2. For any COD4 veterans here; from your experience how does the MP compare to MW1? I found the campaign a bit disappointing compared to COD4.

Also what class is good for beginners?

You know what to expect, imo is better then mw1. Maps are more balanced and there is more content :customisation is fun, perks are great and so on. Coops is really cool, if you liked first one you will be not dissapointed im sure.

If you liked MW1 mp your gonna love MW2 mp. Better and improved on all accounts.

There are no classes in neither MW1 nor MW2, so not sure what your asking, but the first weapons that are unlocked are very good. The UMP is by far the best SMG in the game, and the M4\Famas are also decent. The Famas 3 round burst is a very good noob gun :)

As far as secondary goes, it really doesn't matter, just pick one you like. Some like the shotty route, others prefer the small machinepistols, others gun+tac knife. All in all, depends on your play style, althought machinepistols and shotguns are easiest to use for a newbie.

A good tip imo is to find a gun that you really like, and start unlocking stuff. Good xp, and the unlocks can make a huge impact. Aspecially the "Extended magazine" upgrade, which takes quite a while to unlock can really make a huge difference in how good some weapons are.
