[360, PS3] Borderlands

37 :)
Weapons got batter, but only in terms of stats and value not in terms of variety.

Weirdly though I couldn't find a good shock long range weapon (sniper rifle, rocket launcher or even a decent assault rifle).

Needless to say, through the last couple of levels, shock and corrosive weapons became extremely important.

My Borderlands in enroute should I trade it in for MW2 or is it a keeper. I really not into cell shaded graphics(hated Crackdown)...will I like this game?

If you bought the game, you might as well give it a try. Seriously.

I'm having tonnes of fun with this one. Haven't touched my mountain of other games (ODST, Brutal Legend, Demon's Souls, Uncharted, etc etc) because it's just too much fun. Love it!

I've been playing this game non-stop in the evenings all week with the wife (local co-op via split screen). It is pretty easy to suddenly realize that it is way later than you thought due to "one more mission" syndrome ("Oh crap, it's 2:30am!")

=)

Demon Souls has mostly been sitting on the shelf because of it.

Just keep in mind that it is a shooter with loot mechanics (kind of like a 3D Sacred 2 with less talking), not an RPG.

Cheers

when Can I start fast treavleing? It is grayed out (I'm level 18 soldier)

I am tiring of having to restart quests at the beginning everytime I have cleared an area and have to finish the next day

Alright you bastards, you made me go buy the game today.

Any suggestions on what type of character I should play when I get home after work and pop it in? From reading here it seems like the soldier is the 'easiest' class, is there one that gets really good after a few tough first levels?

Hunter is a long range damage beast, and I think he might be the class that gets the most powerful later. All his skills are damage adds and his special ability recharges very quickly, does a ton of damage, can't miss, will hit multiple targets and can steal health etc.

How do you get healed in this game? I'm just on the first level doing things for the Doc but I'm at 51% health or so and he won't heal me?

Also, I don't think I've got you guys on my friends list (cept for R1), so if the rest of you want to play send me a PM or post on here your gamertags so we can co-op.

Speaking of which, if I'm playing single player can somebody still join my game or do I need to start the game in LIVE instead of Single??

Thanks

edit: On more thing - How much of this game is "linear" and how much of it is kinda find your own way? I was wondering if exploring is rewarded by finding other ways to get things done, because so far it looks like I'm in lots of alleys with really only one way to go, and I'm wondering if I can look to find other ways to jump on top of things to get a better position rather than just running into the funnel of the bad guys.

And as far as the other thing goes, I guess the problem is I haven't found the things I need yet in order to fix the automated healing thing so I can't get healed there yet... or so I'm guessing. You can't get healed until you finish the 3rd or 4th mission or whatever it is??

You only have to walk like ten feet to find the part. Go out the main entrance and hang a left. The road takes you strait to a vending machine lying on the side. Some scrags will pop out of nearby holes, just kill the wave and grab the part. Once the machine is fixed you can buy healing kits. You also heal completely when you level up.

Just got it on PC (OMG this needs AA so badly, I kinda regret buying this just due to the lack of AA...horrid HORRID aliasing), and from what I've seen so far. Soldier is far better against a horde of enemies while the Hunter is superior against single targets.

Against single targets the bird does a massive amount of damage, however against a horde it'll take out far less than a turret. It's most noticeable in the earlier levels when you can plop down a turret during a hard fight and ignore everything except the boss and the turret will take out most of the small fry.

Soldier also has a larger health pool I believe, as well as skills to boost survivability (again obviously needed for wading into the midst of a horde of enemies).

Haven't done much with either the other two, they seem more geared towards melee, and melee just isn't my thing.

Easiest (albeit slowest) way is to just buy a shield module with health regen. I keep a spare one on me at all times to swap in during downtime between fights.

Faster way is to just buy healing at the vending machine. But that costs money.

I'm using the Siren. I did read that she was geared to melee, but so far I've been using her as a gunner with the ability to escape real quick with her invisibility trick. She is supposed to be better with corrosive type weapons as well, something that apparently is supposed to come in handy in the higher levels. I really like her shock trick as well where she zaps everyone as she comes out of invisibility. I think she's worth a try, a bit more interesting to me than the typical soldier type character.

I do wish there was a way to map health vials to the controller, makes them not so useful when you have to wade into the inventory menu to get at them.

Cheers

It's not that I can't go into the inventory menu, it is just that when spider ants are kicking your ass it is not the best choice to stop shooting and blindly stand there while you browse through a list of items. Since picked up health vials kick in right away I think that ones in your inventory should too. I am sure the spider ants don't feel the same way though.

=)

Cheers
