[360, PS3] Borderlands

I really wish this game had a demo. I would love to try it out before buying!
The concept sounds very fun, but I need to chk if implementation would please a non-rpg guy like me.
If you like shooters but aren't an RPG person (which is my preference too), I can recommend this game. I really like it. I find the gameplay so much more engaging than, say, Mass Effect. Less talking, more shooting. :)

Thanks BZB,I hadn't noticed any tabs on top of the machines, but I'll check it out.

Also : Silent Buddah... Did you just say that you can buy an extra shield, hold it in inventory and then equip it when your other shield goes down??

That'd be nuts!

..On a side note, I really think I probably should have started this game playing a soldier or beserker or whatever, playing a hunter on the first go around all by my lonesome is damn tough!

Hehe, no no, like BZB mentioned already, the concept is to just have a healing shield handy to swap in during downtime so you don't have to use (or carry) heal pots.

I got one that had quality of very fast healing in mine. I can swap that in and be full health in just a few seconds. Was quite nice.

But I'm now stuck on my dual soldier/hunter playthrough and probably won't be finishing it for a while as Dragon Age is taking all my time. :D And probably play through DAO 3-4 times before I get back to finishing Borderlands.

SB

I wish I could afford to get this game as I've been hearing many good things about it...Are the graphics and framerate consistently good???

Graphics are very average, IMO. Gameplay is quite nice if you like FPS and like collecting loot.

Definitely don't get this for the pseudo RPG hook. I was thinking something more along the lines of Hellgate London, but it's more along the lines of a standard FPS with minor character developement and loot collection mechanics. In other words, not exactly what I was hoping for, but a good game none-the-less.

Seems to me the game plays almost exactly like Mass Effect, but instead of having an NPC group, you're either alone or with others over Live.

The 3rd person shooting, leveling up, etc...

Ok cool....Im definitely going to purchase this game at a later date. But before I do that, I need to buy Dragons Age.....:D:D

ok the game is good (Playing as siren) Got till lvl 11....But do I ever get out of this *bleep*ing town ?? All I have is one doctor, one fellow on a chair, a guy who is always standing near vendor machine ,a voice at a gas station & faffillions of Dog like creatures (Skag was it ?).

Yeah, there are other areas. I would have liked more variety in the enemies throughout the game, but it is still fun. I'm not sure how many maps there are total, but I'd say in the realm of 12-15?

Isn't this the first ever camp in the game?

If so and you have done all the other missions, one mission requires you to activate the "car service" thingy though you may need to melee the device. You use that buggy to jump across to another part of map and open up the gate for easier access.

Bought it (PS3) and finally got the chance to start playing it.

Technicall it seems to be a bit rough (some sound stuttering, texture loading, and flickering shadows on characters).

I am only at level 5 (with the hunter)...do I think it is the best game in the world...up to now: yes!

It's a bit slow to begin with (you have to get to level 5 before you even get your special power), but it opens up progressively and the number of areas grow quite quickly after that, especially if you pursue the main storyline.

I do recommend doing many of the side missions though, as it enables you to level up and get better weapons, so the storyline missions aren't too tough when you do them.

This game is getting better and better...playing a lvl 13 hunter.
Question: is it worth to upgrade the hawk? Or should I better upgrade Sniper and Revolver?

What I really like is the slight 'wild west' touch (for instance the 'everything is ok' music). And I have sometimes this 'Firfly: Serenity' feeling while playing the game...awesome!

Depends on your playstyle, I rarey use the hawk so I didn't upgrade it much. Only use it to get a little bit of health during combat.

I know some people that focus purely on pistol and other skills that would benefit like accuracy in the sniper tree.

Myself I focused on the sniper tree a tiny bit in hawk that I totally regret, and a bit in pistol for the health regen after killing.

But I only did that because it fits my playstyle. Everyone has their own way of playing. Anyway, back to DAO now, er I mean sleep.../sigh. damn you sleep.

I'm a level 25 hunter, my best weapon is a 225 damage or so sniper rifle, my bloodhawk does 1200+ damage.

So, you figure out if you want to upgrade the hawk or not! ;)

Not sure what I did different beyond focussing more on clearing all sub-quests but for some reason my second character which is a soldier is getting crazy weapon drops playing solo compared to when I play splitscreen with the wife using a hunter and siren. I heart you ammo regeneration!

Also having someone play as a soldier certainly seems like a major bonus for co-op.

Cheers

Heh, as far as I know the hawk doesn't crit. And I'm hitting for up to 4-5k with a sniper rifle. Every 1-2 seconds. ;)

SB

The hawk doesn't miss, not that you do, and it can be spec'd out to hit multiple targets. I see the hawk as a megaton of damage on top of the insane damage the hunter can do with the sniper rifle.
