A teaser was revealed to developers in the private Game Developers Conference a couple of months ago.

Inevitable screenshots and videos were leaked out but it was never meant to be public.
I was expecting the trailer to show up at E3.

Why wasn't it atleast the trailer shown for what would have been the first public occasion.
Anyone have any news or updates on this?

That footage is absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait until next-gen development is 100% underway and developers get a good handle on the hardware.

As for why a no-show, it could be because they want something to build some hype for at TGS? i.e. hit a nice crescendo right before launch. IMO it would have worked well at E3 seeing as I thought Sony made some odd decisions (e.g. the long GT4 HD video, Gengi demo, Afrika which looked great but what the??!). MotorStorm and R&C would have been preffered imo. But that is just me.

Ya I also think TGS will be a very huge event for Sony. Giving all the details and showing the games we still don't know about (or in this case, the games we havent seen for a long time).

I'll attribute it to poor planning on behalf of Sony, I'll always take the dev's side. :)

Insomniac said they are all fully (whole team ) commited to resistance before working back on this.

Confirmed by James Stevenson over @ GAF, the next issue of EGM will have info and pictures of Ratchet & Clank PS3. :)
Also the Insomniac website blog revealed that more information will be known about R&C soon, my guess is the same information.

Can.. not.. wait! Fingers crossed for a playable demo or at least some gameplay footage at GDC :)

I hope this game will take the series back to it's roots a bit in essence little more platforming and little less shooting.

Thought I'd spice this thread up a little:

According to Shane Bettenhousen in a small mention in this weeks EGM podcast (very good show BTW, guest starring two of the makers of the new Ratchet PSP title,) next month's EGM will reveal the new PS3 Ratchet and Clank.

Insomniac Community Relations Manager James Stevenson (who posts at NeoGAF) has been hinting about being excited about Ratchet PS3 in Resistance Clan voice chat, and also wrote a bit about the game in his blog, which was talked about in another post on this forum recently. When asked on the NeoGAF forums whether the EGM article would have "details, pics, or both?" by a poster, JStevenson replied "Both."

Awesome!
This is my families favorite series!
Great story (game-wise) with platforming and shooter elements.
Cannot wait for this title!

And not just a lame teaser, either. Screens. Details. The whole deal, man. Check back for more soon, but in the meantime, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters ships on PSP next week.
:)

They also hint at some more stuff coming for Resistance as well.. "With Resistance: Fall of Man done -- but expect new content next month, as another territory joins the Chimera fight "
Maybe new maps?

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Thats the title of the next game. Screens and Info (as said before) should be coming early next month. :)
Insomniac's next Ratchet & Clank game appears on the cover of the April issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. Its title? Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. Note the expected double entendre, Insomniac did:

"The name Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction works on many levels. It signals a new era for the franchise, ties into the game's story, and includes one of our signature subtitle double entendres." -- Brian Allgeier, design director, Insomniac Games

For mountains of information on Tools of Destruction peep the April issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. It will be on newsstands March 13 and in subscribers hands at the beginning of next month.

Sadly, I'm looking more forward to Ratchet & Clank PS3 than anything Naughty Dog has to offer. Why can't they bring back the Jack series or do a new platformer? As much as I love Ratchet & Clank, I'm a bit worried it may turn too much into an action game...
