Sony Playstation Meeting September 7 2016 [PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, Rumors, Speculations, and News]

9 PM Is a perfect time to sit on the couch with dinner and watch Sony execs reading autocues while standing inside a reality distortion field ;-)

It will be busy night, because at 7 PM CET Tim Cook has to tell about his "amazing new products".
A mobile phone without a headphone socket...

It seems my friend working in retail was not the only one to heard by a Sony rep than the PS4 Neo will be launched next year.

Well we will know one way or another very shortly, but it seriously doubt this will be the case.
  • Would Sony have an event for the PS4 Slim after it's been leaked?
  • Would Sony have an event for the Neo even though knowing that its not being released until Feb/March 2017?
  • Why would Sony be building them now, to just store them for 5-6 months before release in 2017?
I can understand the reasoning behind Sony delaying the release until early 2017, especially if they can up the specs significantly, but all things considered, going by reports and rumours etc, they have the units available now or soon, so they should get it out pre-Xmas and make some serious inroads into ending the battle with Xbox.

The next thing you know we'll have computers without floppy drives!

Floppy drives started to disappear from PCs only when the medium had already become irrelevant.
Unless you think headphones, earphones, powered speakers, A/V receivers, etc. aren't being sold with analog connections, then this situation is completely different.
Nice strawman attempt, though.

It's almost as if you didn't know this is simply a way to save money on the DAC in the phone itself, while forcing isheeps to pay another $50 for an external DAC that will be dangling out of their iphones so they can connect their head/earphones.

Yes, it was both your friend and this anonymous gaf poster who overheard a random store clerk in a random gamestop saying it wouldn't come out this year.

Well, if we're going to be assholes about it....

Consumer audio has gone digital. Analog is dying.

I don't understand where people get the idea that the Neo or whatever would release this year or even early next year.
Sony have the Playstation VR to launch this autumn and winter, surely they don't want another device competing for the same money, even if it's their own product.
Make people invest in the PS VR now and Neo later in spring 2017.

They will have more information on Neo, possibly even slides of the final hardware to show and presentations of Neo enhanced games. A (26th may 2017) release date and price is likely too, so (the poor) people can start saving again after purchasing the PSVR.
