The PS3 has been resurgent in recent years because it's been getting great exclusive games. At least for me, this year alone brought Ni No Kuni, The Last of Us, and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix, and next year, the PS3 gets Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix. And lest we forget, the PS3 line- up in the beginning totally stank and did so for several years, plus PS3 versions of games paled in comparison to 360. Also , online was terrible to. So many mistakes!

They had Call of Duty bundles but they both sold out.

Seems like they got a pretty big batch considering how many bundles they're selling + the standalone console.

edit: Sam's Club has a KZ bundle.

The Source here in Canada seems to have stock online, too. (edit sold out)

Seems like Sony made a pretty big shipment recently.

Yeah, saw this on NeoGAF and jumped on it. I think I am going to grab a second controller and NBA2k14 from Amazon, too. I actually feel a little bad about buying 2k14 again, but I'm honestly not very interested in any of the other games available for the system right now. I am going to get my free copy of Resogun, though.

Was definitely an impulse buy, given the current lack of software that I am interested in, but one I can live with since, ultimately, I just bought it earlier than I might have.

Xbox One is the most wanted console at Amazon... by far! It's placed 5th in the wish list and no other console comes even close.

Errrr.. what? You're concluding that because the One is 5th on Amazons gift idea page, that it's actually the most wanted console at Amazon? Really?

Do you know for certain that that list is not just an extract of the most clicked or ordered items within the last 24 hours? 7 days? Or simply the most viewed and clicked on? Or randomly generated to some degree? Or generated in some sense based on your region or your own IP address, showing a page catering to YOUR interests?

I don't know how these things work at Amazon to be honest -just like I don't know how Kickstarter works 'cos I don't use a credit card after a bad experience with one and use Paypal, I once tried to fund a project and there was no Paypal supports so I know not of the inwards of the process-.

That's basically how the webpage appears for me, yesterday it was placed 8th.

As for your last question I certainly can't say for sure.

EDIT: DrJay24, okay, I stand corrected.

It's also the current top selling console (and top gift) at amazon, however, trying to derive anything meaningful from amazon charting isn't all that easy.

Most probably...
And well, that's the thing. You see, if a certain console is at the top, there's bound to be a deal between the two companies, so as to avoid other retailers for whatever reason.

I read the other day that Gamestop had 1,800.000 PS4 pre-orders without meeting the demand while Xbox One had 400.000. So perhaps there is something else to it in the end.

Especially when both lists are updated daily and only one console was in stock.
This. Timeframe is everything. If the sample period is one hour, the best selling console can change one hour to the next.

Is Amazon's rating a running 24 hour interest?

It seems to change quickly, PS4 was at seventy something yesterday with the WiiU nowhere to be seen.

Regardless, I hope consoles sell well in the end, over the years. If someone wanted to give me a console as a gift I'd ask them to give me the Xbox One. I watch a lot of documentaries and stuff like that, and Youtube has began to fall short of them. I watch a documentary on the TV every day one is aired -mostly nature documentaries- but I have to go to the kitchen or the living room or to another room in order to do so, and I don't like that to watch a documentary, when I can watch it in my cosy room.

I live alone and I have no access to TV in my room other than in the console because the nearest cable of the aerial can't reach here. I could fix that with relative ease but for a house that it is more likely to renovate relatively soon, I am not sure of that.

There are cheap aerials out there, but limited space on the study desktop where I have placed the TV is an issue.

WiiU has very few multimedia functionalities. Xbox One has quite a few multimedia apps already -watched a documentary on one of them yesterday, about Echo, the famous Elephant-. PS4 is a mix of power and multimedia capabilities, a well rounded machine. In my area it has like 4 multimedia applications though, while there are 14 on the Xbox One. Still PS4 has an IGN app here and Xbox One doesn't, what's with that? :???: I like IGN.

In a design competition for me the console of choice would be the Xbox One, I like what it offers and its design philosophy. Also the fact that as some kind of cable box, it is meant to be powered on all day long. Besides that, I am a fan of the Xbox library 'cos it is what I am used to, then there is the gestures and voice control. So I hope that the Xbox One sells a decent amount of consoles to keep it going. -this is going to be a tough generation for Nintendo, slightly tough beginning for MS, and Sony... we shall see, they can do wonderful things (PS1 and PS2) yet the PS3 was a train wreck, imho, it is also a brand I never got into, except for my siblings and friends-

In an ideal world I'd have all of them, the Xbox One as my primary console, PS4 to play Gran Turismo, probably a bit of KZ, and especially an exclusive like Beyond Two Souls if there were a second iteration of that game, and WiiU for a Mario Kart and F-Zero, which were my favourite games on my old Gamecube.

Space is a problem for me, and in fact I have the Xbox 360 in the living room rather than in my room because while both my Xbox One and X360 could perfectly co-exist together, I don't know where to place it in a way I am fine with it taking up space.

The most gifted gifted and wished for lists are daily. The sales is hourly. Right now the XB1 is #8 while in-stock, but I assume the whole list is pretty low in raw numbers, Wii Just Dance is #1 and the 360 controller is #4.

The only thing that doesn't seem to fluctuate due to its nature is the top sellers for 2103, that should be hard to screw up. Despite that Amazon managed to remove the normal PS4 SKU from the list for weeks making the PS4 look like it wasn't selling. It is back at #8.

The most gifted gifted and wished for lists are daily.
When you say daily, is that reset to 0 at midnight? eg. It's 00:00 on Monday. The lists are reset to zero. One person buys a WiiU - that's now number 1. Two people buy XB1s - that's now joint number 1 and Wii U number 2. By 23:59:00, the current rankings sales are:

1) 299 XB1
2) 298 PS4
3) 6 Wii U
4) 1 PSVita

Then it clocks over to 00:00 on Tuesday and the list is reset. So when a PSV is sold, that's now ranked number one.

I presume that it's a running 24 hour total. At 00:00 Tuesday, the 24 hour old Wii U purchase is dropped and the ranking is now...

1) 299 XB1
2) 298 PS4
3) 5 Wii U
4) 2 PSVita

And a little later, the two XB1's bought 24h ago are dropped from the rankings...

1) 298 PS4
2) 297 XB1
3) 5 Wii U
4) 2 PSVita

This would be the only measure that makes any sense, and would be an accurate mean for the past 24 hours.

Ya, that's why only the running total for the year is the one they can't screw up. All the hourly and daily stuff is hard to reverse engineer.

The PS4 is back in stock, but none of the hourly numbers have budged. Maybe it it computed for the last hour which reset at unknown hour marks (on the hour PST?).

Xbox One is #1 most wished for....for whatever it's worth.

Interestingly, perhaps shockingly, PS4 has been in stock on Amazon for about 2 hours now while XBO is sold out...

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Console/dp/B00CMQTVUA/ref=zg_bs_tab_pd_mw_1

Even worse, PS4 is only #67 and falling on the hourly sales charts, whereas being in stock should cause it to shoot up the charts rapidly.

Very weird, perhaps "massive PS4 demand" really meant "incredibly limited supply".

But I also think Amazon's bestseller charts have been bugged a lot lately.

@Shifty's last post, rolling 24hrs?

How exactly Amazon's charts work has always been a mystery to me (and I think is a closely guarded secret). Can it really be ordered by "units sold", when you'd assume some 5 cent item would always dominate? Anyway, OT I guess. There is definitely a momentum component to Amazon's charts though, they do not "reset" every hour, day etc.

It started at 67, so it has not been updated. Where do you get "falling" from?

Edit: Finally updated to #9, up 577%.

Edit 2: #1 now, up 6100%, along with all bundles which are up several thousand %.

Unless the PS4's demand fell off of a cliff, the demand is still high. Bestbuy seemed to have received a large shipment just a few days ago, because every bundle and the standalone was in stock... everything sold out within 2.5 hours. Sam's Club had a killzone bundle and sold out around the same time.

Amazon must have received a large shipment as well, because every bundle is in stock and you can add 999 in your cart (edit: DS4 bundle is sold out). Their ranking is obviously bugged.

Here in Canada, Futureshop and Bestbuy receive 60-100 PS4's every now and then (they actually have a counter) and sell out within 10-15 minutes online.
