How do you get the mutt to follow Izumi home ? Might want to spoiler tag the answer for safety.
I feel cheated by the missing hostess clubs !!!
Definitely not buying this game now
Although Yakuza 3 did not exactly light any sales chart on fire in the west, Sega was pleased with the results so far. An assistant community manager from Sega of America recently posted the following message:
As was mentioned a couple times above, SEGA doesn't generally release any specific numbers in terms of game sales. (Even in Valkyria's case, after a huge surge, we listed percentages.)
So, while I'm not able to give you any numbers, I can at least still confirm that the initial sales were really positive, and that all of the fans who jumped in to support the franchise in the west did a great job.
Released in March in Japan as Ryū ga Gotoku 4, Yakuza 4 is now heading to the west, as we thought it might when Sega indicated big numbers for Yakuza 3
in North America and Europe.
Yay!!
Hope for an uncut version. I want to play pingpong with the hostesses!
We’d also like to confirm what we feel is important news for our fans: the Hostess Clubs will be returning in Yakuza 4!
There's a terrific feature over at BoingBoing in which writer Jake Adelstein plays Sega game Yakuza 3 with three real-life members of the Yakuza. I have selected two wonderful excerpts.
The set-up of the article is that Adelstein lets three guys from the real-life Yakuza in Japan try the game. They certainly don't play through it. But they sample it, talk about it and judge it.
...
S: I don't know any ex-yakuza running orphanages.
K: There was one a few years ago. A good guy.
M: You sure it wasn't just a tax shelter?
K: Sure it was a tax shelter but he ran it like a legitimate thing. You know.
Ironically, the sections that Shirokawa seemed to enjoy the most were cut out of the US version: mahjong, the sexual massage parlor, and the hostess clubs. After I explain to him what Sega cut from the US version, he said: アメリカ版を買った奴がかわいそうだ。セガUSAが最低だね.(Translation: I feel sorry for the people who bought the American version. SEGA USA sucks.)
Chiaki Kuriyama, best known in the West for her role as Gogo Yubari, is joining the cast of the next Yakuza game, Yakuza: To The End.
Kuriyama will be playing the role of Misuzu Asagi. "Because I've long loved Yakuza," the actress said, "I was really happy when I got the part." She says that since she knew the series, she felt pressure. Kuriyama says that she is looking forward to the time when she can control her character in the game.
Sega is taking the Yakuza series in an entirely, totally unexpected direction, with Yakuza: Of the End. The upcoming PlayStation 3 game is a zombie shooter set in Kamurocho. The zombie invasion took place in April 2011. Screenshots in Famitsu show the Japanese Self Defense Force overrun by the undead.
Kazuma, Goro, Ryuji, and Shun, characters from previous Yakuza games, stay behind to defend their home by shooting zombies. Players will be able to customize guns in the game, one of the screens shows Goro with a gun arm.
Nagoshi also made mention of main character Kazuma Kiryu traveling to space and fighting against zombies. It's not necessarily the case that these will feature in the next Yakuza game (although we wouldn't complain!). In mentioning these concepts, Nagoshi was merely trying to demonstrate that fans have come to expect the unexpected from the series.
