https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2020/06/25/xbox-series-x-full-power-of-console-games-optimized/

Optimized for Xbox Series X is the indicator for games that take advantage of the full power of Xbox Series X. Since Xbox Series X offers developers unparalleled power and speed, this empowers them to create the experiences they want and embrace a range of features and capabilities based on what is best for their individual titles. When you hear a game has been Optimized for Xbox Series X, you’ll know that the developer has either natively designed or fully rebuilt their game to take full advantage of the unique capabilities of our most powerful console ever.

Games featuring the Optimized for Xbox Series X badge can showcase anything from virtually eliminating load times via the Xbox Velocity Architecture, heightened visuals and hardware-accelerated DirectX raytracing powered by our custom, next generation GPU, to steadier and often higher framerates up to 120fps. Titles displaying the Optimized for Xbox Series X badge can include:

  • Brand new games built natively for the Xbox Series X such as Halo Infinite.
  • Previously released titles in which a developer has enhanced their title using the Xbox Series X development environment to dramatically leverage the power and features Xbox Series X has to offer, like Gears 5.

Wondering which games are Optimized for Xbox Series X? Below you’ll find a list of titles confirmed to be Optimized for Xbox Series X to date. As this list grows in the weeks and months leading up to Xbox Series X launch, we’ll keep it updated to reflect any additions.

I kind of forgot they're doing these Series X Focus articles each week. It's nice to get even just a tiny bit more details.

Two things interesting to me:

Halo Infitine supposedly "built naitvely for Series X" ....that seems suprising considering it is also coming to last gen consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077 on the list of confirmed titles that are being "optimized for Series X" ....so when is that version coming? this year or next?

2) Yes.
1) Most likely next year, going by the schedule of the initial release.

hmm, I was going to talk about how the design didn't make any sense on the badge, but they explained it.
it makes more sense where it came from now.

Honestly not that surprising that Halo Infinite could be natively built for Series X. You can write native apps on two smartphones at the same time. Look at a game like Titanfall which came out on Xbox One and Xbox 360. Same gameplay, same maps, but would have to be fundamentally different game engines because of disparities between APIs, cpu architecture, gpu architecture, memory architecture, audio system etc. Very possible Halo Infinite has some shared code between Xbox One and Series X where it makes sense, but the engine subsystems are different (two different renderers etc). The APIs should in many cases be the same, but there may be hardware reasons why the code could be structured differently for each generation.

Going by the explanation given by Mr Beard Guy, the main difference between patch optimized and built for xsx optimized is that patch is for already released game, built for will be for games after/at the release of the console (there by not needing a patch).
It just means it was compiled on the xsx dev kit.

So it doesn't have to mean anything you've said at all.
Your pretty much talking two different builds of the game. Not gonna happen this cross gen, for either console.
Be a huge waste of development time and money, better spent on assets or bigger levels etc
