considering MS promisis the XBOX360 will launch in PALcountries also this automn and ps3 maybe a year later on.. i think a lot of people (me included) will buy a xbox360

off course all depends on price and other details

I like the way all these journos have simply meekly capitulated to the "PS3 is twice as powerful as Xbox360" hype without a second thought. Embarassing to be honest.

Sounds like Sony have simply done a better job of showing off demos and upcoming games. Whether they were real footage or not is pretty irrelevant, they did what they needed to - hype the product.

That PS3 control is however, terrible. Hope it's changed.

"E3 Opinion: Xbox 360 is outgunned and outclassed by Sony's PS3"

I read the article...

2x more powerful on what grounds? CPU alone doesn't account for everything, especially since we will not be CPU limited in the majority of cases this generation. Also, "and bear in mind that that's a far, far greater gap in power than existed between PS2 and Xbox"? On sheer specs alone, Xbox outclassed the PS2 in every department except straight CPU performance, and the ps2 didn't even have a GPU! More ram, a GPU capable of delivering DX8 class shaders, poly counts that were several times greater, etc.

edit: The powers that be want me to present a less prickly opinion. So here it is: Some media outlets, like the one that wrote this article, are buying into the hype WITHOUT question. This bothers me, and it should bother you. Go to the gamespot forums and see what kind of effect marketing has on the average person. I do not like to see my friends fooled. I've encountered cases where someone honestly believed that the PS2 was a supercomputer, and that a 2004 $2000 rig paled in comparison. People end up buying products on promises that are never delivered. That's all.

Pakotlar - please can you stop your personal tirade against marketing and PR; your constantly negative posts are not conducive to meaningful and intelligent discussions, and on that basis your post rights could be suspended.

edit: My response to you was completely OT. Therefore I took it out.

I am amazed with the quality that the Xbox360 and PS3 are putting out. That duck demo alone was incredible! Gears of War and UE3 look amazing, as does the Final Fantasy Tech Demo, and Ninety-Nine Knights. However Sony's PR department is known for making unsubstantiated claims during its PS2 marketing campaign, and it seems to be doing the same thing with the PS3. I hope the stuff that we witness is all real time, and I believe a lot of the material may be close. This generation looks amazing.

Just wanted to say i loved the COnference. It was all about the games and features, cool!

We already knew about specs and such, and i'm glad MS didnt tried to trow us sand to our eyes (Tech demos). I'm really impressed that MS was so honest.

And worldwide launch? Thats awesome.

THe lack of PDZ at the conference does worry me tought........ :? but madden at launch? IT will sell like hot cakes. :D

The Ps3 conference was kinda boring and full of Lies (tech demos).

Right now i'm leaning torwards the Xbox 360, Gears OF war looked sick!

full of lies?

When i say lies, i refer to tech demos that dont represent the kind of graphics we will be seeing in Ps3 titles, at least in its 1st 3 years. Really, it was too much PR BS, and smoke and mirrors, it pisses me off that journalists are buying it just like that.

I start to believe that if MS said "Our console is twice the ps3" journalists would have believed it too, just like that, wihtout even thinking.

Its the SOny hype train allover again.

last time with ps2 they showed their techdemos and surpassed them in quality lateron INGAME .. idunno, if this is going the case again it will be great..
time will tell i presume.

How is it different with Sony vs. MS.
Sony has demos and game concept footage, MS says their games will "surpass reality" and other bs without much visual to back those claims up.

Yes both companies put up BS, however Sony is the one bold enough to put up straight BS game footage and pass it off as in-game.

Here is an interesting post I want to draw some attention to: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=240782&page=17&pp=15

Read the post put up by "The Flux" and "RuiFeliciano".
Those 2 ppl seem to have no access to the actual hardware or the factual source. But anyway, Final Fantasy VII demo and Unreal Engine demo were great too. Killzone is well scripted so I guess there are very few things to do realtime in the first place, if it's realtime (I doubt it but not sure).

Neither you nor I know whether they have access to the source of the information, but both certainly indicate that they do. As far as the Final Fantasy VII demo, it certainly IS incredible, as is the Unreal Engine demo.

Regarding Killzone

In August of 2004 this editor visited the offices of Guerilla in Amsterdam. There team members admitted that Killzone 2 development was well underway, but that they did not intend to release on PlayStation 3 and that they had, in fact, not even been provided with PS3 development kits at the time. That means that between August of 2004 and May of right now, Guerilla received tools and made a game for a system they knew pretty much nothing about -- a game that is as ridiculously polished as this one, no less. I don't care how fantastic of a developer your company might be, something like that just doesn't happen.

Having now seen the GOW movie from XB360 (not to be confused with GOW on PS2!) I think both look very impressive. I hear talk of 'if you freeze frame you can see the polys on the GOW models' and stuff, but really that's nitpicking. Side by side, visually neither GOW or KX was leaps and bounds beyond each other. If you take a technical viewpoint, how many 'things' on screen at once, maybe there is, but the average Joe doesn't look so close.

Personally I thought KZ was beyond the real of realtime, but seeing GOW is definitely RT, I think my expectations were just too low!

Both killzone and Motorstorm fomr sony were FMV and not realtime. I think the only realtime game sony has shown is Heavenly sword (Deano!)
