Yeah the GOW realtime demo on Xbox360 was amazing. The environments were very detailed just like the environments in the UE3 screenshots. The cool part was when that monster burst through the wall and that soldier guy turned and started to run.

That was funny and realistic too the way he glanced over, said oh sh*t! then high tailed it outa there.

I don't know. Tekken might be able to take it this time around.

as much as i love team ninja i would trade an exclusive deal on Tekken 5 for DOA4 any day.

bouncing bewbies were cool in the neo geo days.
I'd trade both for an exclusive vf 5 , sega are the only ones that can make a good 3d fighter

Tekken and VF have both achieved large fanbases, and they have both gotten excellent reviews, saying what you just said is flaming at it's worst...
It's as bad as saying that (insert any console manufacturer) is the only one who makes good consoles.

A reliable source confirmed to me that Killzone is prerendered and not realtime at all.

did they mention anything about motor storm? that's another one that people are debating rabidly

It's logical to assume that if Sony shows CGI footage in one case, then they do it in many other cases as well...

Both killzone and Motorstorm fomr sony were FMV and not realtime. I think the only realtime game sony has shown is Heavenly sword (Deano!)

Plus the UE3 demo...right?

not surpris killzone is pre rendered

look at epic ut07 for ps3, look about same as gow. both shown realtime. both engines for 2006. are u telling me the team responsible for stuttering killzone can outdo epic sweeny.

I'm skeptical but really, would it be impossible?

It's not like the UE3 will be the most advanced engine on any platform until PS4 you know...

Also, a multiplatform engine is bound to lose out to an engine specifically designed for one platform.

There will be games that look much better than the UE3 games on both X360 and PS3.

Not saying Killzone is one of those, but the possibility is there and it's quite a strong possibility.

But do you honestly believe they whipped this up so soon even though they've only had PS3 devkits for a few months? If it's realtime and looking so great then that would mean the engine is up and running. If the engine up and running and looking so wonderul why not show it as one of the main demos that could be controlled realtime? Makes no sense.

No no no. Killzone video was prerendered. Period.

What i'm saying is that there will surely be lots of games that will look better than what the UE3 can do, simply because it's a multiplatform engine going against engines that will be specifically designed with those consoles in mind. Not soon, but it's inevitable.

People are touting this bloody UE3 as the second coming, when really, it's a fantastic engine, but it's still an engine born from PCs. And the X360 and PS3 are different enough from PC architectures to offer a lot more than that.

It could be that the Killzone demo was made rather like Heavenly Sword's was - see Deano's thread about that one.

Could be. That would be nice, it would mean PS3 can actually output those kind of graphics, but not at that framerate, which was quite flawless on the video.
Either way, even if it were realtime, it wasn't running on final hardware, nothing was, so we'll have to wait and see how things pan out.

My source has worked on the Killzone CGI. I don't need any other confirmation.

PS> I told you it's a reliable source :)

I don't think so. That video looks almost as good as FF Spirits Within, I don't think they are ever going to get even close to that on PS3.

one of them runs 60fps the other 12-17.?

are u telling me the team responsible for stuttering killzone can outdo epic sweeny.

Hell of course !.
UE3 is a fat cow.UE3 is all about developper tools, middle ware, easyness and feature list,so they need compromising on performance .
They are good at demo-ing their tech ,but they aren't gods.

Funny enough ,kilzone team used to work with epic on Unreal tech.Their first tech (3years ago) was based on UNR and they had technical relationship with epic. Also the kilzone engine relies heavily on LOD , unlike UE3.(that alone could explain why sweeney didn't dare to show more of the outside through the window in his PS3 UE3 demo )

Could you shed any information on if those CGI is indication on what the team is hoping to achieve in the future? I think it was given that most of what was shown is pre-rendered - the big question is, how close will those pre-rendered stuff come to actual in-game gameplay in a few years...

Does anyone have a link to the unrevealing of the PS2 6 years ago? I would love to take a look at those demos back then and see if they were done in a similar way (especially the Final Fantasy one, I believe) and how they compare to todays game. Maybe that might give some good indication on how this footage will compare to future games?

some outside devs got the devkits only 2 months ago, and they still showed great footage. but Killzone's dev is a Sony in-hous team. they have access to everythiing as it happens.

Guess how long Sony has had Cell based dev kits? A few months...
