xbox 360 confirmed pricing

I just hope the PS3 is not too expensive, because I really want both.

Merrill Lynch Japan predicts that Sony will sell each PS3 at the price of 44,800 yen ($410) in Japan and $399 in America.

Now that MS has put their cards on the table. That price $399 ps3 price does seem to fit in to consumer expections. Considering it has builtin wireless, and BR it should still be pretty competitive against the fully loaded 360 even 5months later.

Unfortunately, to recoup their profit losses they won't be able to sell 64MB memory sticks for $40 Sony already sells 64 Duo sticks for ~$20. :)

But seriously. Those prices for 360 peripherals are a crime! Like someone said on another fourm: "I feel like a mac customer"

Hehe, you'll buy a new console for backwards compatibility and 'collection', but you won't buy a $30 cable?

In japan but how will it do in the usa and europe for the holidays ? at that point it will be a year out so ms can tweak prices .

The Xbox 360 premium will cost $400(£221) in the US, €400 in the EU, and £280 in the UK.
The standard version will cost $300(£166), €300 and £210

American pays £221 for the Xbox 360 premium while the UK pays £280.
American pays £166 for the Xbox 360 standard while the UK pays £210.

Are US products priced before or after tax?

when i asked Game Crazy at the time of my preorder they could give me NO solid info on estimated pricing and said that it could be as much as $500 and knew nothing nor promised anything of what would be in the box.

Yeah, alot of pre orders where based on assumptions (unless there is a quote out there from Allard or someone that states that a HDD will be in the $299 base model). I never really pre order anything..be it games, DVDs or game consoles (game consoles being the worse).

So that makes the fact that "Oblivion was dropped because of the non standard HDD" argument moot. Even though there where people who where already stating that. If thats the case..I wonder why Oblivion is solely being made for 360...

The Wi-Fi adapter price is crazy...simply lunacy...compared to the PS3 AND Revolution having them standard. I was really excited about the fact that all I would need as far as cables to be up and going was a power cord and a component cable.....but $99.99 for a Wi-Fi adapter?...wow...I guess 3rd party is the way to go.

I have to say - in the UK I expected £300, so I'm happy...but in the US, you lot expected the lot for $300 - so i think (for once) that the UK did ok.

Still think the base pack is just a con to sell more units - at the cost of flexability.

Not only is the HDD not standard , compinent cables and wireless controllers are NOT standard either.

WTF? at $300 US, in this day and age, with your so-called HD-game console, you can't supply component cables in the box?

Talk about greed. Talk about BS marketing and lies. I thought MS was going to "un-tether the gamer" instead they supply wired controllers, and you can "uprade" to a wireless for $50 USD. Funny, cause on my xbox 1 I can buy a wireless controler for $19.99 CAD. Thx for "untethering us" MS.

No HDD bundles, and not only that, but they charge $100 USD for a mere 20GB HDD, meanwhile for only $150 I can goto a store and buy a xbox1 with a 10GB HDD built in.

This isn't the same MS that made me enjoy the xbox1 so much, all I see here is greed and lies. Screw this. $99 USD for a freakin wireless adapter!?! Man give us a consoel, don't try and nickel and dime us for every last penny in our bank account, jeez....who's callin the shtos over there?

--- ok who am I kidding I'm buyign the upgraded bundle, but this is BS!! the HDD is useless, the perihpherals are WAY overpriced, no bundled component cables is a slap in the face(or a hand in your pocket), and no HDD just pissed off the entire 20million user installed xbopx fanbase.

but seriously, the PS3 just got about 20times more attractive.

V3 its not worth buying the standard .

With the standard u get

console
controller

with the preimum

console
component cable
wireless cable
headset
remote
backwards compat
hd content (wtf that means)

U factor in memory card price on the core package and your at 340$ and now backwards compat no compontent cable ...

That's the thing jvd. It seems MS is forcing gamers to go for the more expensive $399 upfront, i.e. milking us. :)

Look what Peter Moore had to say to IGN when questioned on the 2 SKUs.

"IGN: Do you think that gamers will by more of one SKU that the other? Do you have research that proves the higher price point is going to take off?

Peter: My firm belief, and in all of the discussions I've had in the last couple days with the analysts who are starting to look at this and tear this thing apart, is that the great majority of sales will be at $399. That is huge value for the money. We absolutely project that the Xbox 360 will outsell the Core System in the early going. Over the life cycle that balance will probably change, but for $399, it's phenomenal value."

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/642/642645p1.html

I mean, that right there tells the story. :)

Ya Moore, real "huge" value, everything you promised us stock(wireless controller, component cables, HDD etc) for an extra $100 USD. What a great deal....

Oh wait...that right...you get a remote...sweet..a remote for $100 USD that I don't want anyways.

ummm greed?

last time I checked they lost a couple of BILLION dollars on Xbox 1 HW.

I think I can give them a pass on trying to make this division solvent and offer a down-pricing (or better bundle) scheme when PS3 launches without looking like the inferior product.

Hey jvd (or anyone else who is in a position to answer) - could you comment on the general preorder situation? It seems like it would be a good way to gauge the reaction among early adopters.

Are people

1. Canceling outright.
2. Canceling the $299 system and ordering the $399 system.
3. Sticking to their guns and buying the $299 Core system.

If you have an idea of the numbers, and you won't lose your job by telling them, I think they would be quite interesting.

I wonder what the devs think about this ... any reactions yet?

I feel your pain bro, hopefully this "sticker shock" will be around for a couple of days then things will turn back to normal...

Don't hold your breath on the PS3 though, I imagine the "sticker shock" for it will be bigger than the one we're experiencing right now. :)

no, they don;'t get a pass sorry.maybe if they didn't LIE in their interviews I could give them a pass, component cables were suppsoed to be standard, so was wireless controller AND HDD. If they weren't charging $100 USD for a mere 20GB HDD, or $100 USD for a tiny little wireless adapter, maybe I could give them a pass.

But no, no matter how you cut it, they lied to us, and they are trying to nickel and dime us BIG TIME.

Na not many people know whats going on . We are going to make calls tommorow. I believe the plan is to put everyone on the 300$ verson untill they confirm a change over to the 400$

right now this situation sucks . Its bad for xbox's future

Regards 'greed' remeber MS is one of the most profitable companies in the world. Like their competitors MS never entered the console industry to bring joy and happiness to the world ;) XB1 was just a bonus in terms of value for consumers as MS set about getting their foot in the door.

I do think the $400 kit is pretty good VFM though. That's hi-tech componentry and all. I guess people expecting a $300 price for the 'full works' were being a little too optimistic. If we had been told all along it WOULD be $300 then there's more point to complain. Expectations were based on rumours and speculations though. If we had known all along there would be a full kit for $400 would people still be grumbling?

But the HDD maneouvre (or lack there-of) wierds me out!

I hear what you're saying Scooby but MS NEVER said $299.

that was all speculation.

It's just actualy $399 for everything they promised.

I see this more as dashed "hopes".

Honestly, I woud not even complain if they had've launched at $399.

Holmdahl said HDD was standard, allard said "the very first one we sell will have a HDD", at E3 they announced HDD standardm and for 3 months the official spec-sheet on xbox.xom said a 20GB HDD standard.

My complaint is things they told us were standard, aren't standard. The HDD now won't get supported which is a load of crap, the component cable thing I think is a joke, and to top it all off, the price of their peripherals is through the roof, IMHO.

You what's even shittier!? I got the cash and I'm gonna pay it....but dammit...I'm pissed

Glad I didn't preorder this, since I would have cancelled this morning. Guess I'll have to wait until the premium version is $299. $399 is just too much money for a console. I'm also disappointed that the HD is going to be worthless for games, I was really hoping that devs would use the HD this time to reduce/eliminate load times, but I know that won't be the case now.

The $299 one is worthless to me, since I'd have to buy the component cables and a wireless controller to even use it with my current setup. That would pretty much put me at $399 anyway.

Oh well, maybe I'll get lucky and someone will decide it would make me a good Christmas present. :)
