Yes, PS3 ran F@H once upon a time - I was one of those who used to run it. Unfortunately its usefulness ran out since the device only has 256MB XDR main memory, which wasn't enough for the more complex molecules they wanted to test, as well as limited floating-point performance compared to more capable general processing-capable DX10 generation GPUs which came later.

Never heard of a mining client made for a console tho - but maybe there's a jailbroken client out there somewhere. Have PS4/xbone been jailbroken at all btw?

It's been gotten to run Linux, does that count? https://www.linuxinsider.com/story/82947.html

Well, PS3 had option to run Linux from the start (with no GPU support), but Sony freaked out when someone found an exploit that allowed to circumvent their DRM and removed the support entirely (and then got sued over it - which got tossed I think, I can't remember clearly what happened with that case.)

Edit:
Ah, you were talking about PS4, not PS3... Righto! :D No, I didn't know about this. But I suppose Sony plugged that hole in about 15 minutes.

Those lucky US residents who bought a fat PS3 and used the "OtherOS" features were eligible to receive US$55 compensation.

I just thought he gets a bit uneasy when reading the word 'console'

Some interesting things

Some not-so, more 'WTH, was that seriously missing previously?'
  • Edit URL for Favorites. You can now edit the URL of any favorite in the Favorites menu or the Favorites Bar. Simply go to Hub, then Favorites; right-click on a favorite and select “Edit a URL.”
  • Full screen mode (F11) in Microsoft Edge. Simply press F11 or choose the new Full Screen icon within the Settings menu (three dots) to take your websites full-screen. You can exit Full Screen view by pressing F11 again, or by clicking the Restore icon in the top-right corner.

Uhh I already have this one on Calculator...
Currency Converter. In response to one of our top customer requests, there’s now a Currency Converter included in the native Calculator; even works offline for when you’re traveling internationally and want to avoid connection charges.

This might be the single most useful change
GPU in Task manager. Windows Task Manager now displays information about the graphics hardware and performance of your system.

Staged roll-out again, saw something about previous upgrade taking 6mths to be fully rolled out.

Well I'm upgraded successfully.
Oddly Windows Update called it 'Feature update to Windows 10, version 1709' rather than 'Fall Creators Update' or similar :|

Failed to update for me.. just stuck @ 33% .

But my un-updated instalation has issues as well, randomly freezing. My gtx 460 seems to be the culprit, it started since I swithched back to it :((

So far 2 annoying things I've encountered with FCU which I don't know how to fix:
- Writing to Edge search/address bar is slow, especially if the phrase or address is long (for example when writing "This is an annoying bug" to search/address bar there's around a second of delay between me stopping to type and last letters appearing on the bar)
- Context-menus in Edge, for example if I right click on a link, say PC Hardware, Software and Displays, it now shows "Ask Cortana about PC Hardware, Software and Displays" which obviously makes the menu-window wide as ¤#&%. The old way of just having "Ask Cortana" was far far better and tidier

That's because FCU etc are just marketing names, they've always been tracking the updates by their numbers (1511, 1607, 1703, 1709)

One minor issue, though at first it had me gritting my teeth. I could no longer rename my files/folders. I searched for an answer, and found this has come up in the past. I wasn't using slideshow, but one user at tenforums said the problem went away when they disabled it. That got me thinking, yadda, yadda, yadda; by default I use "small icons" and switching that to anything else re-enabled me to change file/folder names. I'm guessing a tiny fix to the registry will finally sort this out, but for now I'm reassured by being able to get functionality back, and the difference between small icons and medium icons, or what I'm using now, Tiles, is not a big deal. Posting here for anyone who searches for an answer. My search led me to https://www.tenforums.com/
I think I'm still a member there, I was also one for their seven forums, and it's an excellent resource, full of friendly and helpful people.

Those have an easy fix.
Don't use Edge
Ye well, Internet Explorer simply doesn't cut it on all sites anymore so what choice do I have? I certainly won't use the steaming piles of youknowwhat that Chrome, Vivaldi, Firefox etc are.

Well at least the steaming piles that are Chrome & Firefox are considerably less steamy than Edge or IE.

Turned out I wasn't registered there, but now I am. Funny enough, I searched for new posts and ....

Lol, and the workaround I stumbled on also worked for that poster. Seeing that happen is pretty good confirmation the problem originated with the update. Makes one want to hug the internet, when it's so useful. :)
