Uncharted : Drake's Fortune*

The beta of Crysis in DX9 mode and high settings has full 3D water, refractions, transparency and incredible reflections asweel as light refraction. The DX10 mode shown in some videos has far better water with every little wave in full 3D and more detailed effects.

lair's water looks very simple compared to Crysis water especially since the waves in Lair are large "blocks" instead of as In crysis every little wave bump in 3D... plain sick I say.

Swimming under water is a joy since it looks almost excatly spot on from my scuba diving time...so real! :D

nice! but the water have fluid dynamic when touched?

Never thought about cheking that in DX9 mode, and DX10 mode should have it if DX9 has it duh!

Edit: Yes it has it heh but dont know ifthe mp beta has it enabled yet!

...the game is one of the best technical presentations ever produced. Beautiful vistas, gorgeous high-dynamic range lighting, rippling water, fluid animation, destructible environments...

Still you're misreading me. I'm not saying I know that it's going to be AAA...everything I'm referring to is the content of the game...the gameplay, the look of it, the cutscenes and story. Everything there is to know about the game, without knowing that it's a sure fire 9/10 game.

When you go into a store and you see Resistance, Bioshock, Gears etc...and then you see Uncharted. This is what I'm getting at.

So all you're saying is that its different from other action/shooters? I see some elements from it in a lot of other games out there right now, twisted together in the same package it could be considered original and that's fine if that all you're trying to say, I agree its not Halo or Bioshock.

Without experiencing gameplay you're taking someones word that's its fun/works or whatever, it may have serious hitches you don't know about, same with the story. You can say it looks good to you, but you cannot be certain that it is good. That's why I asked if you had played it. Uncharted seems to have a lot of different play elements which could be a good thing, but there's pitfalls with that also.

There's no doubt that Sony should put in the effort to market it well if they want it (if they feel it is) to be their big title this year, but with a new IP until I see reviews and/or a demo there's elements that look really good, but I can't say I've seen anything special/groundbreaking there yet. I'm just repeating myself here, but I think it looks like it will be a good game, possibly great, but I'm always pretty skeptical about new IPs, I'm certainly looking forward to the reviews.

It's done !

Right now we are in the process of making the final disc. Pretty much everyone is playing the game - not because we have to, but because we want to. People are trying to find all the treasures in the game or beat it on every difficulty level, which is not an easy task. I find it amazing that after working on the game for this long we all still really enjoy getting immersed in the story of Uncharted.

I hope you all will enjoy Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune as much as we do.

ok thanks for the answers nebula i really hope that for the next uncharted ND build incredible 3d water with fluid dynamic the use the power of cell in the right way and no more stupid shader based water that i really hate because just watch it with little attention and see how flat and "fake" looks :(

But remember that better to priorytise the most important. Better to have less detailed water and in exchange have better detailed environments instead of the reverse. But still Uncharted may have even better detailed better water at some scenes where there is less of other stuff to render. Im shure the game will have it's surprises on the graphical front.

yeah yeah i know but after lair i can't believe that a game like uncharted can't have 3d water maybe nd have some hard time to master cell and next episode p will prove this ? Who knows...:)

Look you do know we're talking about Naughty Dog don't you. I have already stated that I don't gurantee that the quality is there, but that there is huge potential for it to stand out from the crowd. There is obvious quality there, and from such a seasoned developer you can only have high hopes.

I think they are doing things that next-gen has been screaming for, and I'm glad it's Naughty Dog's who are the ones that are going to do it.

Yes, but that doesn't excite me nearly as much as it apparently excites you.

You can have high hopes, I'll wait to see a playable demo and/or some reviews. Standing out from the crowd always has inherent risks.

I think they are doing things that next-gen has been screaming for, and I'm glad it's Naughty Dog's who are the ones that are going to do it.

I'm glad you're glad, it changes nothing I've said. Sales will tell us if this is what next gen has been screaming for.

How? This is a big budget blockbuster of a game, with mainstream gameplay.

I'm not sure how mainstream follows with standing out from the crowd. It appears they are trying to do a lot of things with combat and movement and alot is going depend on it all coming together cohesively without breaking immersion. There's a risk.

I hope they pull it off.
