After some levels which look nice, but not special, I am now in a later level where some of the environment scenes, when moving the camera in the right position look real to me...I was a little bit shocked by the output on my screen...with the right camera position, the lighting works extremely well in these scenes. Nice!

Aboslutely gorgeous game and so fun to play.
I did run into a pretty nasty looking graphics bug which slightly spolied the impression of a highly polished game.
At the beginning of chapter
06: Once a Thief. The opening cutscene where Nate and Sam are looking down at the mansion below, planning the theft of that cross from the auction.
There is some pop-in pop-out in the brick and stone texture work just behind Nate. It momentarily switches to a very flat and low res texture a couple of times.
Other than that, haven't encountered any glitches or bugs, but I'm still at very begining.
I'm spending too much time just marvelling at the views and objects, I don't think I'll be able to finish this in months :)

IQ is decent enough, but I wouldn't call it pristine. Jaggies are kept to a minimum in most circumstances, but sometimes there's a lot of subtle dithering or grain across the screen, and things can get pretty messy when there's both motion and high-frequency depth information.

But even that comment isn't completely true. You can't move the camera around during cutscenes in Photomode.
The commend isn't explicitly addressing cutscenes. It might just mean that they have to modify their visibility system when photomode was implemented, or something like that.

Laa-Yosh may not be mentioning this but this reflection is very irritating to me. His hand is actually under the water yet the SSR is showing it. There also seems to be some cut off distance to the reflections.
I'll need to get to a spot with swimming, but I wonder if that's actually the refraction system.

Omg I can imagine I just let my PS4 running u4 and used it as ambiance. Like I already did with destiny.

But this time it looks so awesome like painting like realistic.

This game looks stupendously amazing, I just love the way how everything all comes together so well be it the lighting, shadowing, textures, models, shaders and effects..The sheer scale and density of those amazingly detailed environments are breathtaking! And the lighting especially to me at least, is wondrous:oops:.

I had two hard crashes (ps4 reset necessary) in tge ballroom scene. Not good.
One soft crash for me, just needed to reload the game and level.

More here : So does photo mode cheat and pump extra processing power into the game's graphics when you access it? According to Naughty Dog, no. "We don't do anything special in photo mode outside of making sure everything is visible when you move the camera around," Kovalovs says. "We didn't write new rendering techniques specifically for photo mode."

That could explain why the game runs worse during photo mode.

I'm up to chapter 8 and all I can say is 'wow'. You have to love NDs attention to details...it's the little things like the bar bending under weight differently depending where you are on the bar - those little touches! The only thing I was a little dissapointed by was his hair in the water remaining spiked...not sure why they didn't just have a 'flatter' hair for that bit if they couldn't do some kind of simulation.

The gameplay model can look really good with the correct lighting setup, I'm guessing cutscenes ensure they got the best lighting at all times plus some extra shading (more accurate SSS).

Did we already see such high resolution volumetric lights before ?

A potential competitor :

What's amazing with Uncharted 4 : it is either better than any other game or on par with the best. Even the motion blur is great.

You though that puny Drake anim underwater was impressive? Wait till you see this...

Listen to the sounds he makes scratching his hair. Listen to the sound he makes cracking his neck. Look at the specular on the sweat and facial hair as he moves about. The microsaccades movement in his eyes. Skin stretching and wriggles depending on the animation... During gameplay. o_O
