Are the same camera effects available to me to toy with ?

Yep! To get an impression, check out this tutorial for the GT4 version:

I expect the GT5 to be similar, though of course with 6 years of technological advancement. ;)

i hope you can upgrade the prius with a jet engine rather than electric motors, thats a hybrid i wouldn't mind seeing

The basic flow of completing license tests, participating in races to win and collect rewards, and purchasing more expensive and faster cars with the goal of completing all of the race events remains unchanged.

Ugh. Please tell me the license tests are optional this time around. It's the 5th GT, we all know how to drive. And not start off with a crappy used car, spending the first god knows how many hours driving slow cars, being forced to spend what little credits you have on more slow cars to meet the silly entry requirements for the initial races. And let us save during those 24 hours Le Mans races.

I heard that yes, they are optional. I've always loved the licence tests myself - first thing I'll probably be doing is get them all gold or something like that. Only reason that I haven't done that with PSP yet (though I think I only have a few left) is because I always drive my GTs with a wheel.

As for many hours driving slow cars, it'll be interesting to see if it is still true that you can import your GT PSP cars - if so, I should be starting out with most of the cars in the game day one. :)

I think that for Arcade and most online modes, you'll have access to maybe even all cars directly.

You can trade cars freely on the PSP too. :devilish:

EDIT:
Also comforting to see GT5 evolve beyond the racing-in-a-loop formula. Am curious in the driver RPG aspect.

 Modnation Racer and GT5. Twisted Metal will have combat. MotorStorm may have to stand out more.

This had me smiling, after the piss poor online experience with the Prologue it seems that they are coming back and making up for that "mistake".

3. My Lounge
A Private Space for the Ultimate Track Day

In Gran Turismo 5, every player has his or her very own private racing lobby online called "My Lounge." Only people on your PlayStation®Network Friends list can enter.

In My Lounge, players can pick the track of their choice, set up custom race regulations, and hold private custom racing events with their friends. Up to 16 players can race at the same time. It's even possible to sit back and watch without having to join the race yourself, with a variety of race camera views available. People in the lounge can even do free runs around the track before the race begins.

Imagine this: You set a time for a race using the in-game messaging feature, and wait for people to gather while you do free runs around the track. Your friends start to join, with people doing laps to warm up. Once everyone has arrived, it's time to race. Anybody not racing can watch the race live and chat with everyone else there.

Yes... that would be the "ideal" case from PS Home perspective.

Other forms of integration is also possible, like giving us a garage in Home, plus more ambitious/problematic integration like adding vehicles to Home.

Yes... that would be the "ideal" case from PS Home perspective.

But of course that means loading an app to meet up and then loading the game from the app (which then stops running). And, forgive me if I'm wrong as I haven't booted into Home for an age, but doesn't Home automatically boot into the hub, necessitating more loading to get into (for example) at GT5 hub before even meeting?

Either way, it adds faff and brings nothing better to the experience. Also, the whole concept of hotlapping and spectating while the party gets together (a good idea, as far as I can see) wouldn't be available, as you can't have Home and a game taking the same memory at the same time.

What would be a positive for Home in this case?

First thing first, Home integration does not mean everyone is forced to use Home. So the default path is still going into My Lounge in GT5.

Now if someone finds the need to load an extra app called Home before launching into GT5, that's probably because Home has some value to them... or may be they are already in Home and want to get into GT5 together.

The numbers are tiny now, so it's a valid business decision not to have Home integration into GT5. The game already has tons of features anyway. But this may also be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The XML game launching allows an external group of people to play GT5 together. It may be easier to organize virtual marketing activities in Home than in GT5 because the former is easier/cheaper to change. The result of the races can be posted to Home at the end of the game, and players can win prices. The rules for winning prizes can be decided externally.

There are other benefits depending on how Home evolve (e.g., user customizable space for GT5, user organized activities, Home rewards for GT5 races, etc. etc.). But I got to run for a meeting. :p

GT already supports spectator mode in the Lounge. I could imagine a plausible scenario where a Club's TV screen (the main one handing above the stage) could be used to stream game play footage from a supported game. In this case, a GT5 session launched by one of the club members from Home. Now that would add some additional incentive and value to launching a game from Home.

Plus, as patsu mentioned above, we're not talking about Home being the only way to launch an online game (that would be crazy). But an optional method. One that, given the nature of Home, encourage spontaneous play sessions between people who are socializing/hanging out. However odd these people may be, they should still have that option  (j/k).

SWEEEET ! Spectate mode is exactly what I was thinking about too, especially for marketing activities.

The bookies and spectators can start a pool/bet on who will win. :devilish:

There are many possibilities. Just imagine "portalling" into GT5 from MUSH. The not-so-great thing is Home is (still too heavy-weight and) no longer a user generated content heaven. Vision changed. But if you look at how eager people are trying to hack into PS3, it's not surprising for Sony to take very careful action here.

EDIT:

I saw that !

Infenion/sears point! Yay. Have had plenty of laps there. Great track. I hope they allow for multiple configs. I believe Infenion was in GT4 also so makes sense. Hopefully, it's been visually re done.

If I understand their custom course maker correctly, you should be able to take the base course and then add your own flavoring on top (weather, time, loops, etc.).

Is this correct ?

Hope so. Basically infenion has a few configs:

AMA superbike config
NASCAR config
AMA superbike config with old T9
Old T11 but no one uses that anymore (thank god).

I'd like the be able to play the 2 superbike configs. The NASCAR one is crap.
