Been looking for the signature edition on amazon.co.uk

Not there.. any good places where i can get it?

Not sure if you're buying local or trying to import, but here you go, from discussions earlier:

Anyone know of any UK online export shops (to export items from the UK to the US)? I'm not asking for any specific reason. Not at all. So don't go looking for some crazy GT5 Signature Edition or anything. It doesn't exist. :p Seriously though, what online shops will export games from the UK (Amazon UK won't export video games to the US, apparently).

^ Game.co.uk & Shopto.net

Also...time to sell a kidney, anyone wants ? no smoke no liquor damage, used only to purify water, fruit juice & soft drinks. :p

Much obliged. Placed an order at Game.co.uk. Direct link for anyone else looking. £154.94 after shipping (about $247 USD, plus however much international charges are for your credit card of choice).

I'm so impressed by PD, they're doing magic not coding.

How its possible to have so good particles [and so many], that looks full res and depends of wind in 60 fps and almost 1080p with 2xAA?

How do you figure out it is almost fullres particle buffer?

If you look at ~2:42 you see it is very low-res particle buffer which goes well with their particle emitter design and z feather. It's not that dense either, just the low-res particle effect giving of the impression of more volume due to the soft edges just becouse of being low-res and z feather.

Doesn't mather though as end result is very good. Each smoke particle blends in nicely to a smooth sequence with no noticable particle clipping/separation.

Wind effect is juts simplistic offset value for movement direction. It's actually present in several racing games and other type of games. However to not break effect of volume illusion then methods like above or just lots of particles are needed to not be able to spot each individual particle when the effect 'dissolves'.

Also 1280x1080 is quite a far cry from 1920x1080 in pixels (1.38mpixel vs 2.08mpixel)

Here's gif - http://i35.tinypic.com/fks6x0.gif
and source video http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_gran_turismo_5_gc_gameplay_2-16619_en.html

Its just unreal and crazy.
Wouldn't surprise me if this was some sort of SPE-driven volumetric cloud sim ala Warhawk. The effect seems far too dense to be composed of individual particles.

Ever karted in real life? Not that we know with which settings the game is being played, but karting is really something else.

Here's more on the course creation. It seems to be in, though it's not completely free-form:

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/111/1113842p1.html

They pulled the article. Looks like Modnation Racer is safe. I think it looks more fun for people like me, and has more full featured editors (character, track and vehicle).

They probably just pulled it because someone gently reminded them there's an embargo on this information until tomorrow 9AM.

Thanks for the link!

I am a little bit surprised, but for me the driving physics look way off with respect to drifting!!
The drifting seems to be very 'arcady', ridge racer comes to my mind when I watch this?!

From personal experience with Karting, they can drift a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT. Especially when you arent used to it.

@-tkf-

Game are the only one I've seen selling it and that's the only place it said you can get it in a PSN email I got a week or so ago.

As I remember GT 5:p particles were.

Actually dont look low res to me. I can spot low res particles in Killzone 2 or Infamous but here not at all.

Maybe animating particles isnt so hard, but not so many games have done it and knowing that wind direction and strength will change with weather etc its really impressive that they implemented it.

BTW I have never saw such beautiful and dense dust in any game, so for me its just mind blowing, especially in such game, that pushes so many things at once. Almost lit up particles tech looks impressive.

Photo mode screens

Are those photomode screens real ?

I mean some of them look unreal, like one of my favorite cars below...

Kazunori Yamauchi loves cars. If that much isn't already obvious from the release of Gran Turismo up until GT4 a few years back, it's obvious when he discusses the new cars being added to the franchise in Gran Turismo 5. He tells us about how the Pagani Zonda R '09 recently won the Nurberger circuit. Or the secret history of 1967, where players can now race the Ford Mark IV Race Car '67, or the Janguar XJ13 Race Car '67, or even the Lamborghini Miura P400 Bertone Prototype '67 during that fateful year. He even gives props to the 2010 Subaru WRX STI. The man loves vehicles with two axes. And he's using that love in GT5. Here are four reasons how he's working to make it the ultimate car game this fall.

...

*sigh* Witness the love of Polyphony Digital in GT5.

EDIT: Now I understand why Sony execs pushed Kazunori to release GT5 months and months ago. This thing has been sitting with all these features in PD office for a long time now, right ? They have been polishing and adding more stuff to it over time.

Thanks guys, preordered at game.co.uk, no way am i gonna go cheap on the one game i would have bought any console for.

Happy to see they don't simply throw features like stereoscopic 3D rendering, head tracking etc. at us. So the other races (rally, NASCAR, etc.) are still in right ?

This GT is gonna be epic. Even though they had a very long time to make it, I'm still surprised at how much content is going to be in GT5, and by how much they've improved the game since GT5P. The level of detail and polish is next to none. They also deserve a lot of credit for listening and including almost everything that was asked for, such as skid marks and damage etc.

If there's any game that deserves full MSRP, it's GT5 IMO.

First thing I'll do is to check out the photo mode:
http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5297p4.html

Are these pictures really in-game, produced by the photo mode ?

Some of these pictures are from special 'photo locations', where you can park or drive your car just for the purpose of getting nice shots. The other pictures are from going into photo mode from the replay pause menu.

The photo mode can produce 3D shots as well, which I think is really cool and I can't wait to see it on a 3D display. You can even import those to your PC in a standard 3D format, so if you have 3D on your PC PS3 owners can produce hot car porn for you.

So I will be able to see similar visuals on my own TV in my living room ? They are not "poster shots" ?

You will see this on your TV, but they can be exported and rendered at something as ridiculous as 18 megapixels or something crazy like that. And of course most of these pictures are the result of applying various camera effects. Photo mode shots will not move obviously, but while setting them up you're seeing the same graphics, just not as highly detailed/processed.
