The Framerate Analysis Thread part 2

Have you been able to have a look at the final LP2 versions? The 360 one was solid in the last MP demo, but I'd be surprised if the final PS3 version was as finicky as the two demos.

Ign reported ps3 fps stay awful but well...it's ign and I haven't so much faith of it.

Couple of other publications mentioned that both versions have frame rate inconsistencies, and that the PS3 one suffered a bit more. The IGN review made no mention of that on the 360 side, so an analysis should clear things up.

Well ign reported ps3 has major problem of fps but not mention everything about 360 version except it's fine; if the difference it's only ps3 a little more inconsistencies the things are totally differents. But if the RE5 case on will repeat again, there is really something wrong with MT framework and ps3 hardware at this point...

Without dragging this off topic further, I'm hearing conflicting reports all over including another reviewer on Neogaf and other people who have the game early.

Let's just wait for an analysis. If it's not done on time, I'll post my impressions in the game room since my copy should arrive Wed or Thu at the latest.

If the MP demo is anything to bias on regarding the final game, then performance on PS3 should be relatively poor compared to Xbox 360 ver. [both demo on PS3 averaged around 25FPS while the 2nd demo on Xbox 360 averaged around the usual 30FPS ]

Any updates? I have a friend who have encountered the same problems of the laggy fps in his ps3 fat and he have to sell the copy to the desperation.

I'm up to Episode 5, out of the 6 apparently. It runs better than RE5 without a doubt and is fairly smooth but there have been a few occasional momentary drops that crept up in late Episode 2 and on, and one boss fight with more frequent drops. Nothing serious like the IGN review made it out to be.

Your friend's PS3 may have some issues with streaming data off the HDD since the game has a 4.6GB mandatory install.

Yeah quite bizarre; so my suspect could be true: LP 2 run worsen with the old HDD in the fat models? :???: Because my friend &ign impressions suggest that talking of an awful fps almost unplayable sometimes for the huge lags.

Worth investigating since I'm running it on a slim myself. Some years ago, MT Framework's earlier versions had issues on the 360 hardware while scaling to 1080p with heavy tearing while newer consoles had no problems.

This is a more bizarre issue though.

Just I guess but not so absurd: ps3 slim has HDD more fast.

Not really, it's just a 4500RPM 2.5" SATA with a 8MB cache; the same specs used in every single model aside from the 20GB SKU (2MB cache).

One French gamer posted similar issues on Capcom's forums (with links to others who are experiencing some issues) and even occasional freezing, so I'm wondering if it's a PAL version issue or what I suggested. Time will tell I suppose.

The ps3 slim has HDD more faster I assure that: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-ps3slim-hardware-test-article

Sounds like a minor difference depending on the manufacturer or possibly some wear and tear with the HDD, not necessarily speed.

Regardless, I'm actually using a HDD that I used in my now-dead 20GB core (a 500GB Seagate), not the Toshiba one.

:???: It's pretty ot but again the differences are there.

Also, it's not just synchronous transfers that matter. Random reads and writes are probably very much more so needed, especially in games like GTA4, where there's no linearity of where you are going.
