The Framerate Analysis Thread part 2

It's very noticeable in the demo.

I didn't know there was a demo.
I didn't finish the first one, but I like these kind of mindless hack and slash games. I could be tempted to pick it up if it is better than the prequel.

I am out a 360 (RROD) until after E3. I'll have to decide between an Elite or awaiting a slim/Natal bundle. The Reach beta, Alan Wake and RDR posts are killing me.

Good news is I get to play some of the older PS3 games.

360 Avg:57.886fps Min-Max:11.0-60.0fps Tear:19.829%

PS3 Avg:53.005fps Min-Max:20.5-60.0fps Tear:54.240%

the inclusion of the cascading explosion for both definitely a nice touch for benchmark. seems cpu limited when that occurs. i played only the ps3 version but although the average framerate is decent while playing its alot less to be desired as these drops are at points when you need it high.

to be honest, tearing a part, I haven found the fps acceptable on the ps3, nothing of drammatic but I haven't try the 360 to do a direct comparison...

I can't say the same about the 360 demo, very disappointing performance and the tearing is completely ridiculous.

Wow I can't believe the fps was so low on the ps3... it's the first time that my perception wrong so much... really bizzare ... but the gameplay regard only the mission or do you try to explore the city too?

Wow I am surprised to see PS3 having more tearing. From word on the forums I thought it was the reverse or perhaps the PS3 tearing is less noticable.

Is it a case of the tearing being in the overscan portion? I think it was Faf who explained PS3 has a sort of soft v-sync that tears in the very top lines, something that doesn't appear as a qualitative measure in a quantitive analysis such as these.

The perception of tearing not depending only to the torn percentual but more where it's collocate in the screen...

True...can you tell where exactly the tearing occurs ?
For all you know it could well be in the overscan area (as Shifty suggested).
